CAli, 20 Jun 2014Are you filming action films? Lolwell, this is the technology now. lol
Looks more like an Xperia ZL equivalent. They probably won't promote this phone everywhere.
A 5" model cannot be called Z2 compact. That's totally nonsense. Z2 compact will be 4.3" or 4.5" at most.
Anonymous, 20 Jun 2014sony man.. your just pushing your customers away. I will get samsung GS5 mini now... sigh
I'm looking at a Sony Experia A Ultra at the moment - then saw this ...mmmmm
Have a Samsung mini duo at the moment - terrible in sunlight - can't see the screen, only has a 2mp camera which is really bad to take pics - very tiny to see even when zoomed in on. Tiny in the hands so looking to get a larger phone - easier to see, read etc I think anyway.
Samsung mini duo is a pain accessing the internet as well, not good at all. Wouldn't recommend it.
If you just want to make calls and text people is ok.

all of the important parts of the Z2 are in here, (ram, camera, processor, waterproofing) so they would understandbly cut back on other features that arent that essential (glass back, some batery capacity)
if this gets released in our country i'd get this over the Z2, since i dont need the glass and i dont have that much cash.
You failed to mention that the front cam is also different (VGA vs 2,2mp) :p
If this actually is the next xperia compact (which I doubt) then it's really dissapointing due to the huge non-compact display.

5" Compact? Are u kiddin' me ?
0,2" inch is IMO to small difference, personally i think Z2 Compact could be still 4,3" - Compact/Mini is the segment for those who want substantially smaller high-end, not tad smaller like year old, standard flagships, c'mon.
It's nearly identical. It's just made a bit cheaper through a slightly smaller screen, lesser capacity battery and plastic back.
Is this the "innovation" we can expect from Sony in 2014? Where's the bloody Xenon flash that every other high-end imaging smartphone has except Sony's offerings. Even you own ancient K800i is better value in this respect.
So basicly Sony is doing the same thing as Samsung. Flooding the market with substandard variants of their flagship device. The only value added by Sony is their talent to invent meaningless technology terms like e.g. Bravia, X-reality, Triluminos, Omnibalance, xLoud etc... of which most do next to nothing.
This phone looks perfect for me, the dimensions are pretty much the same as my galaxy S3, only with a 5 inch display. The Z2 is a great handset but it's huge, as is the HTC M8 and LG G3. Most compact variants of flagship models are compromised with performance, so "compact" usually means a mid range handset, so what's the point! The Sony Z2a looks like an alternative to the Z2, S5, M8, G3 and the 4.7 inch iphone 6 without any compromises on performance. I just hope Sony take this model to the rest of the world.
This phone looks like a successor to ZR and not ZL.
ZL has slim bezel while this phones bezel are huge.
As for the Z2 compact, ideally it should be 4.5" IPS with 720p display. But I wouldn't mind 4.7" screen if they can fit it by reducing the bezel.
RAM 3GB and Battery should be 2800mAh.
