I guess Apple's have studied the success of Samsung 5,5" phone and realize that they have to come up with similar size to capture a bigger share of the market. First of all the western people have a larger palm size and 5.5" phone will suit comfortably and also for middle age customers who require bigger screen. As for the 4.7" will probably suit the youngster. That was the reasons Apple chose bigger screen size. I believe if Apple's allow to use different interface, like android, I belief they can even capture more in the market share.
Noel Carson, 21 Jun 2014Battery consumption is not decided by the screen size but the number of pixels on itThats for an Amoled as they dont have backlight. LCD uses backlight so more bigger screen means more power for backlighting but it means more room for battery as well so battery life of mobiles generally improves. But even if there is an Amoled full HD tv it will consume more power then a mobile screen because the LEDs used in a TV will be bigger and hence consume more power.
Chan, 22 Jun 20145.5 will be right choice.....O yes the big 1 5.5 I love it. :-)
haha, maybe 4, maybe 4,7, maybe 5, maybe 6 - Samsung, LG, Sony and HTC are mych better ;)
Anonymous, 21 Jun 20145.5" is the new 4.4"But your new hands are still same sized like your old hands ;)
Perhaps I will go with the 4.7
iPhone design are much suitable for smaller displays frankly speaking
Would be interesting to see iOS optimization with battery life. So far looks very promising, especially with battery by app usage feature of iOS 8
Android makers are inventing a lot of things and all what Apple does is taking them and improving,no thing else..
Trooper, 21 Jun 2014Right, so a 24 inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 uses less battery power than a 4.7 ... more"Battery consumption is not decided by the screen size but the number of pixels on it" - Noel Carson @ 2014-06-21 17:41
"Right, so a 24 inch screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768 uses less battery power than a 4.7 inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 ?. Ok!, got it." - Trooper @ 2014-06-21 18:40
+1. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Hey Noel Carson, how about a 55" 1080p TV? Can I use my cell phone battery to run the TV all day long?
This is nonsense. There's no way the iFoney will have a display larger than 4". Both Steve Jobs and Tim Cook said that anything larger than 4" is ridiculous and unnecessary. Jobs said 3.5" was the perfect size for the iSheep. Tim Cook said 4" was the perfect size. How did Tim know? Because the iSheep told him so. No iSheep would buy anything over 4". NEVER.
Ok. An LG/Samsung/Japan Display 5.5" screen. Where's the Apple-made screen?
