practically nobody
Hey look - a Blackberry Bold... well, at least the image seems to suggest that.
Anonymous, 05 May 2009Why do you want a lacklustre 5 megapixel cameras now there are so many 8 megapixel ones around... moreOf course, I would prefer 8mp. I said that phone cameras must be at least 5mp. :)
As for "less resizing", who cares? Eh? :)) No practical difference whether scaling down from 8m or 2mp. I am always wondering why some people seem to be willing to settle for crap. Well, I know not everyone needs good quality. There are cheap phones for budget misers, but on the upscale and expensive phone like Pre a good camera is a must.

This is what people do with photo's, who prints them these days?
Probably only old people, the world is now digital and more and more geared toward instant sharing via the web.

I wonder if this shares the 1GHz processor of the Pre, if so it will be able to snap quite a few pictures before the sluggish 464MHz processor gets the 2nd rate 5 megapixel camera started.
To those who cannot understand camera thing... I agree that even 5mp phone cannot replace a good camera. The same as point and shoot cannot substitute a SLR camera. Phone is always with you, and if I can take a picture I want it to be as good as possible. Crappy 2mp or 3mp no longer cuts. Everybody understands that flash and good processing are also important. In my opinion Nokia 5mp cameras is the example of good phone camera implementation and they have been making these for at least 2 years now. There is no good reason 2 or 3 mp phones should be still introduced to the market.
Former Treo 650 user here. I loved the phone. It was hard to leave it, but Palm did not offer anything which was worthwile consideration so I had no choice but to try Nokia. While the new Palm OS looks very competent and promising I will not buy anything without normal camera. 2mp cameras suck. Learn from Nokia how to incorporate good cameras into phones. Their 5mp cameras in N95, N96 are quite good. I do not like no touch screen and typing but learned to use T9 and scrolling arond menus. I am migrating to N97 once it is out. Unfortunately I cannot go with Palm again. Impressive phone, impressive design, impressive interface. Lackluster camera.
Another ridiculously priced device from Palm. Dear Palm: good luck surviving!
I know its me, but I never got into the whole camera on the phone thing, not saying I never used it, but, honestly not that much of an issue. I've seen the merits of very good devices get canned because of a camera which is nonsense. I guess to each their own?
One would be much better of with some pocketable digicam from Canon, Nikon etc.. And just carry it with you. Faster shutters, faster and superior lenses, better sensor, etc..

Well, given iPhone itself is running a 2mpx camera behind, but focused on being a mini-multimedia device, it only has 8gb minimum (towards higher specs of 16gb and 32gb), Palm's devices are more geared towards productivity, not entertainemt, thus 4gb is suffice for it's purpose of emails, document handling. If it does allow users to have the device act like an external storage, then 4gb is barely enough though.
I think giving it a touchscreen together with keypads is a better option, as some users may prefer one over the other, for others may like having both. If it still uses the stylus, I say it's better for people with difficulty using fingers to type (especially I do have problems with iPod Touch's virtual keys at the edge which always missed my 'press').
Let's hope it has a far far speedier OS than AppleOS3.

Still, lovely phone though. Best of luck to em.
