Shellshock, 12 Jul 2014It's imposible for a 4.7" iPhone to be just 130mm tallIt may be possible.
1. The size increase is diagonal
2. The iPhone increases in width and height, so an increase in width may offset the increase in height
3. The bezels around the screen are made smaller
Anonymous, 12 Jul 2014By the way, Android sales are already slowing down for this phone which doesn't even exist yet... moreBy the way, iPhone sales slowed down preceding the launch of the Galaxy S5, and it didn't even exist yet. Not bad, eh?
Some guy named Django said:
"There goes the only advantage of Samsung..."
Other than flexibility, customizability, the S-Pen, true multitasking, higher resolution, expandable storage and removeable battery...
By the way, Android sales are already slowing down for this phone which doesn't even exist yet. Not bad eh?
Zorium, 12 Jul 2014So one more row of icons? Lol...so boringOne more row of icons, encased in Sapphire which other companies want to incorporate but can't at the moment because of the cost. Row of icons written in a new efficient coding language, with APIs like
Metal - Which will results in even more powerful gaming capabilities
Handoff and Continuity - Interactivity with Mac OS similar to Minority Report OS
Battery by app usage for more efficient usage
A8 64 bit chip which is giving Qualcomm and other companies nightmares at the moment
So yes, one more row of icons, which I'm very happy about :)
Anonymous, 12 Jul 2014500 million iphone users?? So your saying 1 in 12 people IN THE WORLD use an iphone???? Stop b... moreThat is 500 million Apple account with credit cards, so yes 500 million users
Maxs, 12 Jul 2014The stretched of iPhone 3G & Galaxy S lmao!! Yet they called it a new design.. Omfg..It's so funny that this is what ALL Android companies do 24/7 but its just par for the course, somehow only Apple is not allowed?
By the way, while Apple designs evolve over time, there is plenty of change indeed. The squared off sharp edges have given way to rounded bevels. Material change which probably results in a stronger phone.
Plus, the Apple philosophy has always been that the iPhone itself is merely a window to the more important thing, which is iOS, which itself has undergone some big changes in iOS 8. That is why Apple tends to go for a more classic design approach, allowing itself to optimise the design, and also take longer to introduce iterations, unlike in Android where models come out every week. (Both has good and bad points).
The Android approach is largely different, where there are many manufacturers competing for the same consumers, using the same OS, so their main differentiation is through hardware. It is also why there is a wasteful escalation in terms of tech specs, every climbing, but not as optimised (there is no time, we have to introduce a new model next week).
This is also why the MacBooks in recent years as well as Apple computers have become more popular. A more calm design atmosphere, you buy it, and know that it will remain operational in years to come, and not obsolete round every corner.
Duel, 12 Jul 2014"So iphone will catch up in size with phones from 3 years ago." Yes they have bee... more500 million iphone users?? So your saying 1 in 12 people IN THE WORLD use an iphone???? Stop buying into these rubbish facts. They may have sold 500 million in total but not users.
The stretched of iPhone 3G & Galaxy S lmao!! Yet they called it a new design.. Omfg..
Waiting for Note 4 and possible Google Aero project. Iphone looks way too similar and forcing big manufacturers to adapt similar lines for their flagship ones (samsung, lg, moto, htc, nokia).
I think we are ready for the next revolution from any one! Enough of touch screen phones!
Nix, 12 Jul 2014Iphone6 design sucks ugly like 5c :p iPhone 5c design is actually very nice, and very popular apparently. Outsold every Android, WP, Blackberry flagship and still selling well.
Nix, 12 Jul 2014Iphone6 design sucks ugly like 5c :p All the 'ugly' comments, which will later change, when the real thing is out, is actually important, as it is why Apple and designers value good materials and build quality.
This is a lesson Samsung learnt the hard way by remaining with cheap plastics as even its Android rivals went to better materials.
Something its trying to recover from with its Galaxy F.
