People, stop jumping your horses.
It will be available now for only 1GB+ devices because they need to keep the app in memory and for this it needs 1) really low memory usage and 2) a way for the OS to give it special priority and prevent any other app from closing it (the OS allows only 7 apps in the multitasking menu at any given time).
They will optimize the app in time and it will be available for 512 MB devices too.
PL-GM, 21 Jul 2014A lockscreen that requires 1GB of RAM to be a viable option and the Windows fanboys go on abou... moreThe 512mb version will be released later. And yes compare similar spec android with a WP, android is always laggy.
A lockscreen that requires 1GB of RAM to be a viable option and the Windows fanboys go on about Android being laggy! ROFL.
Anonymous, 20 Jul 2014Will the update come with an improved app store, like Google maps, Google search for starters. The store is the same, Google Search etc. aren't in the store, because they have to be written first...........by Google........
This is a good improvement but 1GB RAM just for changing lockscreen? xD :D ROLMFAO
Expect incoming swarm of droid army laughing :D
TrinYa, 20 Jul 2014Don't write news on to be available "soon", especially when it's from Microsoft, do ... moreWill the update come with an improved app store, like Google maps, Google search for starters.
Ripon, 20 Jul 2014Then why nokia or Microsoft manufacturing less than 1 gig. It sucksI guess you're just another Google funboy attacking from the bush. Man, I beleive that app will be optimised for 512mb devices as time goes by. Just like it will work with other languages other then english. Unlike Google and their OEMs wich support devices from .something till .something+1. Then you can throw it in garbage.

"There are some limitations for the updated Lockscreen, however. If you’re rocking a Windows Phone with less than 1GB of RAM, then you’re going to be out of luck, as you’ll need at least a gig of memory to use the new feature. Also, the new lockscreen only plays nice with English language settings."
the beginning of fragmentation
Ripon, 20 Jul 2014Then why nokia or Microsoft manufacturing less than 1 gig. It sucksThink about what you asking, there are budget phones, mid range phones and high end,if there's just mid and high range how would others who can't afford to buy mid or high range phone experience the Operating System of that platform
TheArianista, 20 Jul 2014I still prefer iOS and Androids than Windows phone. Tsk We all have choices....why then make such a comment that you prefer other platforms on this post when they just talking about lockscreens...
TheArianista, 20 Jul 2014I still prefer iOS and Androids than Windows phone. Tsk Oh really that don't post here we don't need your opinion. Get lost fanboy.
