So true, they just need to stop with the UI customization and start to offer it as an option via Google Play as apps the user can install, instead of forcing them.
Anonymous, 21 Jul 2014zte huawei are banned in usa for security reasons .Not their phone division. Their back-end server products are.
Finally, more and more OEMs are starting to understand that if they modify stock android they can only make it worse.

They have extremely poor distribution logisti... moreThey are actually the third largest smartphone company in US, larger than LG, Sony, HTC etc, and the fastest growing smartphone maker in 2013.
Might not be at the top, but Samsung will surely be looking over their shoulder, as ZTE attacks every market segment Samsung is in.
Who gives a sh... about ZTE, really? Anyone?
They have extremely poor distribution logistics and marketing, and me being a marketing guy they make my hate list (somewhere around the top). I've never seen anyone using a ZTE Nubia phone, and I've walked right past their HQ office building.
YourManAdrian, 21 Jul 2014This is ZTE choosing to utilize the stock Google launcher, not Google telling them to use it. ... morenah man...Google told Samsung to do that which happens to be the main android player and leader in customization..ZTE is just a small player, just trying to get noticed as others are pointing.
Things change gradually, not overnight..

Android will never be as pathetic as Windows Mobile. That's the wonderful thing about Android, manufactures can choose to do what they want.
ZTE is making a very smart political move to gain Google's favour, since Google and Samsung are actually fighting at the moment.
Anonymous, 20 Jul 2014Missing the point ..missing the fact, that 'ok google' voice command can be activated on 3rd party launchers for a long time now
So everyone will have the same boring UI even though the phone are made by different company.
Google is trying to do things the Microsoft way i.e. having a homogenized UI among different manufacturers...
That certainly takes ZTE off the list when buying phones, if one has to install 3rd party crap from Google Play to get something useable. Everything Google Now is the first thing i disable on any Android phone i am using, its lame, and i think ZTE and Google has made a deal here, ZTE must be getting something in return for this.
ZTE has long been among phones i recommend to other people, that stopped today.
Meh, I found the Google Now Launcher to be soo boring and lacking in customization options compared to other launchers, OEM and third party...
