While I wouldn't mind an iPhone, the versatility of the Palm-Pre looks more appealing. Either way, I'll likely wait to buy any smartphone until Jan 2010 when the dust settles from the iPhone, Palm-Pre, Omni HD, etc.
Besides, since I live in Canada, the new wireless providers will be online and costs will be WAYYYYY down. $60 for unlimited calling/texting/sms, $40 for 30GB data. No system access costs. It should force the Big 3 (Rogers, Telus, Bell) to more acceptable prices so I can pick the company that has the phone I want and get a decent plan. For reference Rogers charges $80 for 3GB data, and there is no plans for over 700 minutes ($100). All current plans require a multitude of extra charges for Canada to USA texting, long distance, roaming, etc at high rates.

I think having the apple logo glowing sounds useless, another way to suck more battery power.

What new smart phone isn't 199.99 or more when it is first released? You can bash the iPhone all you want but they must be doing something right because every company has a iPhone copy cat. You have to understand it's not just the features a phone has but also the user interface. The iphone's music player for example is not a mp3 buried 7 menu layers down but it's an ipod one very similar to the one I have been using for 7 years so no learning curve. Add in intergration with a music management program that now manages apps and phone (free) updates I still just plug and play like I did with my first iPod. Not so simple with other phones or maybe it is but I have to read through a manual to find out. No manual needed for the iPhone so you see there is a difference.

Whatever guys....this apple will be even more expensive than the iphone 3g....
I would like a HTC Touch HD instead...it will be more cost effective as well as useful to me than the pretty much useless overpriced iPhone.
