What they should have done is, have a Terms & Conditions "fine print" in which it is mentioned that explicit images will not be accepted or something like that.
LOL, What a silliest company and a silliest contest I've ever seen! Actually this company isn't 1+1 but it's 1-1!
OnePlus is the type of company that believe any publicity is good publicity. More and more respected Chinese entrepreneurs are trying to move the Chinese market away from stunt-marketing.
Smash car, burn underwear, eat bugs, street wrestling are what some Chinese companies have tried in the past and looking at OnePlus CEO's history, he is well versed in stunt-marketing.
Kayn, 13 Aug 2014Well... the contest is sexist, because it is only aimed at women, meaning only women have the ... moreYou obviously didnt understand my first comment. This has nothing to do with being a tech company. This is all about marketing and brand identity.
I think it is big mistake to make contest woman-oriented, it should such contest in which 1 boy & 1 girl will be winner,so then in such contest they instructs for no nude selfie than there will be no embarrasment for company.
Well... the contest is sexist, because it is only aimed at women, meaning only women have the chance to enter. You can argue thet tech is more dominated by male audiences and that they are trying to extend a hand to the women, but indeed tech is dominated by those who are interested in ti. If a woman is interested, she gets involved, and she has the chance any of the men do, or at least that's how it should be, and vice versa.
I do NOT think that there's anything wrong with the "no nudes please" comment. It is NOT saying that all women are just jumping at the idea to throw nudes of themselves around, and even suggesting so is sexist. Is it only implying that THERE EXISTS women that would do things like that (and there does, indeed exist those kinds of women, as well as those kind of men, given the opportunity) and that that isn't what they are interested in for the competition.
Well, it seemed to be unfair for guys. Most guys are wanting to buy the OnePlus One.
they can only market.
but they cannot produce handsets on time, thats y they simply making contests.
It may b just a marketing move, but as a company trying to make large in world map, they should remain careful....
Many girls woman enjoy showing all kind of selfies, doesn't make all women in the world same....
Its a sensitive matter and they should use some brain, create some technical contest or something, not use women as objects for promotion.... leave this kind of garbage for cheap movies and commercial with no creativity....
The only ones propagating sexism are the sexists themselves. It's stupid, really.
Its a stupid idea to begin with since pretty much no women know about this phone to begin with. The "2014 flagship killer", "smash your phone", and "never settle" mantra they've been dishing out is aimed at attracting a dominantly male audience. Its been their biggest marketing flaw since all this bullsh*t began.
These Chinese made mistakes one after another, and I'm sure they will commit again;
Golly, that's been completely blown out of context.
Just like a lot of things these days.
Feel sorry for OnePlus there.
That's not sexist. Nude selfies have become a common thing for women nowdays, the company made itself clearly precautious . Today's women are not afraid to go xplicit.
