Anonymous, 15 Aug 2014I like BB, but I think this phone will be a colossal failure. Bigger than Z10. RIP BB.Yeah go play with your samsung and fruit phone
Jacksie, 15 Aug 2014I'm more interested to know who the girl is!I kind of +1 you here. From the recent mobile OS market share report from IDC we saw that BB is largely irrelevant and not worth writing articles about any more. But as you say, it must be the girl with the lurid lips that is the feature of the video and not the phone. A change from the Korean girls that we got used to see showing us Samsung and LG phones :-)
Iam starting to hate full touch screen phone . Love bb for stil making qwerty they are the real phones. We got tablets for media purpose. Well this one rather stupid I like the classic more.
niceguy, 15 Aug 2014The problem is the os. The just need to make a skinned version of android with google play ser... moreBlackBerry OS is old, BB10 is the new OS and it is fantastic. Going Android would be the worst thing BlackBerry could do. Their whole business model is based on security, not one of Androids strengths.
I don't think people realize how smoothly Android apps run on BB 10.3.

Hope they release a version with stylus too, that would be awesome.

Good for BB they come out with their own design and did not fall into the copy-Apple crowd. BB needs their unique device, OS and features to differentiate itself from copy-cat Androids. No one can beat the Chinese on cheap phones but if you have something unique, you don't have to compete on price.
This form factor will fail as a smartphone/phablet, but might succeed as a mini tablet. That being said, how many people really want a mini tablet? Either they already have a smartphone with a large screen, or use a 7+ inch screen of a normal tablet.
I see little need for something like this.
Whilst I like Blackberry this device appeals to me but the price tag will put me off, unfortunately Blackberry always overprice there products. Having said that I have a 9900 bold in the drawer and works just as well as it did when brand new, I currently run Samoa 9720 its not perfect but has not let me down so far despite comments made on here its great. I feel comfortable with QWERTY and am at home on one so long may QWERTY continue.

BBerryMD, 15 Aug 2014Well, New hardware is always good, however the biggest BlackBerry problem for now is software.... moreOf course John Chen is aware of the shortcomings of blackberry's Apps. That's why you see the Amazon + Blackberry Apps news and the fact that you can use Android apps on BB devices. This is a very hard task to achieve. This is why many phone manufacturers just go with Android Apps. I admire how this new CEO is trying. This phone is gorgeous.
Now this is a unique smartphone after a long time. The QWERTY market is pretty much dead because of the limitations of that form factor. It's targeted at the enterprise market and it might become a hit but chances are 50:50. Right now, the market is high on multimedia consumption and what BlackBerry needs to do in order to grab a considerable chunk of the market is, make most of the features of Android OS available on BB10 Platform without compromising on the security front or switch to Android. That's the recipe.
Anonymous, 15 Aug 2014The FB app is actually one of the best things about BB10 OS, its really fast and nice to use, ... moreserious privacy issue ?? Please give brief detail don't beat around the bush .... I am using BB10 and there is no privacy issue. Rather in ANDRIODS app ask for hugee no. of permissions and if you don't want to give any of the permission then you cannot download the app whereas in BB10 each permission is asked by app separately if you don't like don't give the permission the app will still run. Even andriod apps ask for not more than 2 permissions whereas the same as for multi permission in andriod.

The idea of English Fixed Keyboard is good, but had it been like any other Touch Screen Keyboard along with OLED buttons with configurable linguistic options, this would have really hit all markets without a sweat! Now, this is only good for English speaking countries with an etched ENGLISH Keyboard - SO BAD!
