Hope they beef up the storage to 32gb or at least offer other variant with higher storage. 32gb should be a standard for flagship. My 2012 xperia s model has 32gb out of the box but 2gb system partition is really annoying that limits my game apps to just 1 or 2 games along with other applications. I will not upgrade yet.
Doesn't matter if Sony tries to come back to US market. Highend Android market callapsed and people will only buy Samsung because most Android users don't know better.
still no IR port..... , i love sony but this is keeping me away of buying newer xperia phones
And the camera remains at 20.7 from the z1 to the z2 and the z3. I don't see what the big deal is. Upgrading from the z1 to the z3 is dumb

Why can't they use the 808 or 810, I mean by the time the this actually hits the market, I'm sure the 810 will be readily availabe. Isn't it available now to companies to at least test out?? Why not create a phone that us future proof instead of releasing almost the exact same specs each flagship. We need more competition. Even the 805 is outdated, but that's the least they could have done.

Why even bother releasing it with these specs. Sony are being stupid, they could have made the upgrade cycle 9 months if 12 months was too long. At least the snapdragon 805 would've been released by then.
Not an upgrade for a z2 owner but if you are looking for a £500 phone then you would choose this over the z2. Should really have called it z2+/plus or advance. A little surprised that it's still running 1080p screen but it will be a very very good one. Sony have dramatically improved their screens and it's better to get it right on a lower resolution screen than to release a very high ppi screen like the LG g3 which looks poor. Speakers need to have a bit more thump to them - why don't Sony try putting the old wt19i Lww speakers in this? If they did that I would probably sell my nexus 5 for one of these.
It's not the z3 compact.. These are the specs of the full size z3.
Sony's new flagship device will barely be better than the LG g2 released last year
16GB internal is the reason for me not to buy this smartphone. If it had 32GB or 64Gb I would have bought it but 16GB is just too little. They should at least sell different versions so customers could choose from. Also, if they did not update the volume on the speakers then that too would be a reason not to buy it. The previous speakers on the Z2 were pretty bad as well. Not sure what good a screen is with poor sound coming out of the single or dual speakers if you can not hear them out in public or our while driving. I say driving because if you turn on Google Maps you literally can not hear the voice navigation while driving as the volume level is way too low to hear in the car.
AnonD-292864, 02 Sep 2014Practically there are no differences between Z3 and Z2. Who would buy this when Z2 is cheaper ?me :)
To all the people complaining that the Z3 isn't much of an upgrade from the Z1/Z2, the Z1 was only released 12 months ago. If the device has been purchased on a 24 month contract then Sony aren't aiming the Z3 at you. The Z3 is for brand new customers or customers upgrading from their 2012 Xperias.
Yes the upgrade is minimal and the handset will be more expensive initially, but as many of you have pointed out; you don't have to buy it.
I guess with bringing them out every six months now means that the updates don't seem to barely any different to their predecessors.
I imagine beyond the improved screen and improved low light performance. It is not much quicker than my Xperia Z1.
I wish that they would launch a 32Gb model, as I am annoyed having to micro manage apps, as I don't want to have to root my phone to get around the onboard memory space of just under 12Gb.
I also hope the cover for the battery charger / usb slot is better than the one on my Z1, as the rubber seal on the inside of the flap appears to be coming away, which almost certainly means it is no longer water resistant
