According to the article, only 4K will be reserved to select phones like 930, 1520 & Icon.
Why no upgrade for 1020???
Left 1020 in the lurch.
Poor 1020, what to do now???
Very Inappropriate, Very Bad, Very Sad.

There's not many places where you can utilize it properly. And I believe most of the people will switch to 1080p when they see the amount of space a 4K video demands.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2014Thanks, actually I don't care about battery life because I want to buy it only for the camera.... moreBelieve it or not, You should care for the battery life, Even if you are shooting on a mobile camera, It is not just you open and close just to take the shot. If you are professional or even an advanced amateur who does composing through view finder. Leaving that open takes the juice a lot. That is what I noticed with my L1020. It is not just possible to turn on the camera in a second get the shot and close the shutter. the 41 Mpx sensor does take some serious juice according to microsoft store associates, But about the battery life, No comments...They are even silent. Poor design !!! This is what they did to the N1020's predecessor too, Nokia pureview 808 38MPX camera phone.
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2014Thanks, actually I don't care about battery life because I want to buy it only for the camera.... moreFrom these Lumia flagship and the best mobile camera is the Nokia Lumia 1020. Nothing beats them. But if you're getting a L1020/909 pentaband unlocked...It is default at WP 8.0. No official updates. I had it for a week. I used the Nokia Pro camera for about half an hour and the battery drain was at 35 percent according to the app stats. I made sure nothing else runs in background, No GPS/data/wifi/location services/ROgue apps. Just the camera was On...That too just left that open for about 20-25 mins. The drain was like crazy. Even the 1020 Mah battery grip you can buy won't even help it. It was that bad. But the pictures...geez..Sweet !!! Best part is the loss less digital zoom and the Adobe DNG RAW. One sweet lens it was...I miss it badly. But I would let it go since the official Nokia Canada didn't reply to my question about the 8.1 updates yet. This is some serious foul play.
West, 04 Sep 2014seems to work nicely for Apple doesn't it?I don't expect any better imaging from crapple or samesong for another 5 years. They like to run the same show again and again !!!

I have sony Xperia sp and nexus 7 2nd gen.. Xperia for great battery backup.. Nexus for everything else.. To be frank i have never used any Windows phone.. I just want a great camera which will be with me when I want to take photos.. I am confused about L1020 or sony qx100 attachable lens..

I think the Microsoft didn't hire the whole Nokia design team. So I think their negligence has got something to do with it. May be I'm wrong!!!

Anonymous, 04 Sep 20141020 owners again were left out in waiting. That is realy "sweet". And not something... moreactually its exactly what you should expect from MS. remember wp7 to wp8 no-update fiasco? brand new wp7 owners were literally left in the trash.
Fuse, 04 Sep 2014We could see major growth from samsung and nokia through IFA.Waiting for apple counterpart if ... moreForget the Samesong and Crapple !!! They don't make phones for general public. Nokia has always been. They are the legends in this industry. The Nokia always made improvements in every new model. Seriously in the Imaging. Did you just see the conference? The camera rich Dynamic flash mode??? Holycow...Trendsetter it is...The exposure compensation works so perfect for whole image with the slider. What a great thing Nokia !!! Hats off !!!!
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2014What??? The new camera app is not available for the most respected camera phone Lumia 1020????... moreWhat Lumia 1020 needs is a monster battery, I still have the test shots with me. Good lord, The image details are fantastic. With the processing in Photoshop and Lightroom, I don't even see a single pixel destruction !!! WHy these guys killed this Sweet phone???
