Dear Xperia SP
Don't cry for kitkat update
Why did you purchase the cheap rubbish SP???
You have to purchase a flagship phone like Xperia Z .
Guys I have not yet received kitkat update 4.4.2 for my Sony Xperia z in
India ( kerala). My phone was purchased from UAE, so I'm
confused, does the kitkat update depend upon this or my current
location only, or is there something wrong with my phone??I'm
confused.. l also came to know that Xperia z kitkat update has not
yet hit UAE, any help???
Enough of all of this Xperia M!How about Xperia L which is positioned upper than the Xperia M and yet even tasted 4.3 yet (Xperia M already got it!)Shit you Sony! But i will stick to my phone and installed CM11 and wait for any device running Snapdragon 810!
It's good news but what about the sony Xperia m, m dual sony Xperia e1 with the lowest performance now have android 4.4.2 kitkat update and.....
Anonymous, 09 Sep 2014Jesus... I'm really getting sick of all the SP whiners asking for an update... IT ONLY HAS 1GB... moreWhat a dumb and uninformed argument. KK requires at least 340 MB of RAM to function, comapred to ICS's and JBs' 512 MB. Go to the search tool on this site and look up for yourself how much new and recent phones have 4.4.x OOBox and what their specs are (lower than or equal to SP's). Ever heard of Moto G, LG L70, L80, L60, L9 II and lots of others? All got KK, in spite of specs.
And since you are so firvolous with "advices" when it comes to other people's money, please, you finance my entire spending on the phones from now on. I believe you won't hear me complain again.
Anonym, 09 Sep 2014Been there, done that. Cyanogenmod was a step-gap that help me get through until I eventually... moreThanks for the reply. Can you point out some of those flaws for me or direct me to a source? A release changelog for a CM version is, from my experience, a non-existant thing. I know SP's CM11 builds are still in the nightlies, been for months now.
And HTC still hasn't provided kitkat 4.4.2 for 1st generation butterfly..
Anonymous, 09 Sep 2014you know that this phone(2013) is newer than galaxy s3(2012) right? Galaxy s3 released at aro... moreWhat????
AnonD-29215, 09 Sep 2014Well done Sony..At least Sony has shown little care to the customers of 2years old flagship..S... moreyou know that this phone(2013) is newer than galaxy s3(2012) right?
Galaxy s3 released at around the same time like htc one x, xperia t,tx,v.
And all of them dont get kitkat.
So, all of them wheather samsung, sony, htc are just the same.
the xperia sp was way more popular then the xperia z and it sold in bigger numbers sony should update the sony xperia sp very soon or it will lose a lot of future customers
Anonymous, 09 Sep 2014Um that's the exact opposite of the truth. The S3 was getting Kit Kat on par and before some 2... more Samsung user get loss from here. This is page for sony. Every one knows sony is much better than shamesung

Jesus... I'm really getting sick of all the SP whiners asking for an update... IT ONLY HAS 1GB RAM!! IT'S NOT ENOUGH! That it's only a dual core doesn't help. The Z series is the way to go. It's the way Sony is going. And it's the way Sony sees as the High End line. Just drop that SP, and buy a Z, ZL, ZR to get to 4.4.2 and aparantly 4.4.4. It wouldn't surprise me if we even see Android L on the 2013 Z-line!
AnonD-59645, 09 Sep 2014There are things called "customer care" and "product support". I've chosen... moreBeen there, done that.
Cyanogenmod was a step-gap that help me get through until I eventually replaced my phone. Liked it so much that I now don't consider anything else that isn't supported by CM -- lack of proper and timely OS support is a plague in Android.
Still, do be aware I recall that (at some point in time) there were some "deal-breaker" bugs in CM11 version for your phone, which may hinder your experience with it.
I know about it since I had considered getting the Xperia SP (at a *severe* discount) a few months back, but those issues ended up stopping that buy.
HTC is better in software upgrades only in the recent times not in the past. Remember phones dating back to One X. Even today when it comes to mid range, it doesn't update. Btw I am happy that I chose LG G over S3/One X 2 yrs ago.
good news yaar
gogu, 09 Sep 2014hellllooooooo.....they are hardware manufactures not soft....if they dont sell they die .... s... moreThere are things called "customer care" and "product support". I've chosen SP less than 6 months ago and I was assured then the Sony will release a KitKat ROM.
If I have to spend flagship-grade amount of money on a cellphone to have it, say, 2-years-proof, then "thanks, but, no thanks". I can live w/o a smartphone. It's a nice thing to have, but not at any price. It's more than enough that companies forcibly make relatively new phones obsolete, but the Xperia SP is a powerful phone which can, in fact, handle a KK OS even better than it can current Jelly Bean (KK is lighter and gentler on hardware specs than any JB and one of its roles is to revitalize and modernize older and lower-specs phones, as Google intended, but the companies don't want that). The Majority of Android market belongs to low and mid-tier models. Besides, the SP is closest to high-tier models than any other mid-ranger.
Stating that, there is absolutely no hardware-related obstacles for SP to get a KK ROM. Only profit stands in the way. Well, I won't be buying a Sony again anytime soon. This isn't an empty threat, believe me, and not the first time I did the same. Sony's phones are largely ordinary and truly overpriced compared to what you can buy at the same price range, and the aftersales support... simply sucks.
The moment I learn they publicly dropped the KK, I'm gonna unlock the bootloader and slap on the CM11.
What hell still no update for the Xperia SP. Sony what's wrong with you!!
Sony Xperia Z is now getting Android 4.4.4 update
