Why ha? Why we have heart too
Please update our phones and don't leave them
I wish you all the phones they sell in the future is for those who want to change xperia l, sp, m
Renns, 11 Sep 2014No Netherlands but they don't offer many Chinese phones over here. As I said, when you want to... moreAh, EU. That "foreign company" stuff threw me, in respect to Sony. Good thing I don't live in EU yet, I can get certain phones via more obscure channels... And the tragedy is I bought SP fair and square...
One thing is certain, I will steer people away from Sony.
HK-47, 11 Sep 2014"Foreign brands?" Are you in Japan?
You're constantly missing the point. I dont car... moreNo Netherlands but they don't offer many Chinese phones over here. As I said, when you want to get your hands on one you need to pay much extra to get it here and when it gets broken sending it back (IF allowed) is a hassle.
I understand how you feel about Sony and totally respect your decision. to my understanding no other company has fooled its customers this way yet.
Moto is a fine choice mate, I hope it'll give you more satisfaction than sony did with the SP failure.
Renns, 11 Sep 2014Good luck with that. No foreign brands for me, software isn't the best on Chinese brands as we... more"Foreign brands?" Are you in Japan?
You're constantly missing the point. I dont care that much about updates, but when they promise them and then string customers for months collecting income off of that promise, just to finally break it, that I cant forgive. Motorola is now essentially a chinese company? :D They are good with updates :)

Nevertheless Chinese brands really are the future imho as they offer outstanding price/quality ratio.
This probably means you will have to wait a year to find out which phones/tablets will get Android L, even though it gets released next month.

I will be looking to other makers, probably some proven chinese brand. I consider Sony's devices somewhat overpriced and mediocre, and I bought SP solely because it was mostly an exception from that rule. They won't see me for a long, long time.
HK-47, 11 Sep 2014For a good number of owners, not even .205 and .207 firmwares resolved some big issues.
But... moreYes you are totally right. They lied and that's just softly said not a very good way to treat your customers. What a coincidence the status went from 'under investigation' to a final decision right after the 18 month update policy period is expired lol.
Apart from the lies: sony does offer quite a quality product with this device on hardware side, software has been disappointing from the beginning, they do better now with their Z series though. I might consider a Sony (Z2/Z3) in the near future. I'm not fond of the design of Galaxys and their touchwiz, HTC is too expensive and LG's UI is just not it for me.

But it doesnt really matter whether its a 4.3 or 4.4. Sony lied. I bought my SP in december when KK was a "Future version", not "under investigation". I dont know about others, but when someone deceives and lies to me, I dont pretend like nothing happened and I repay them in kind.
I think anyone wih an ounce of respect to oneself and the money they earn/own should not defend a fraud of a company, let alone spend more cash on their products.
HK-47, 11 Sep 2014I do own it. Do you work for Sony? Please, leave. This is a Mid Range cell so stop complaining and Upgrade!
HK-47, 11 Sep 2014I replied to your previous post with the same question, but the admins chose not to post it. I... moreYes I understand, but these are for most of the people out there who own a SP not really an issue, as they are not into specs. For the tech savvy among us it's a different story I agree, but to those I'd suggest you to root your phone so you can still get 4.4., no problems. (:
Truth is, RAM management on Xperia SP is appalling, so that would be the only significant advantage over 4.3 to me.
Renns, 11 Sep 2014Guys, now what is the added value of having the Android 4.4 KitKat on the Xperia SP exactly?? ... moreI replied to your previous post with the same question, but the admins chose not to post it. In short: 4.4 is more optimized (takes less RAM, more for running apps), has a new runtime env (ART) which is the probable future, security updates and lots more, find out on your own. It keeps a device up-to-date longer as there are already apps requiring 4.3+, meaning 4.4+ apps will be here sooner rather than later, and Android L is around the corner. Newer kernel drivers that aid the community devs and keep device alive longer. SD lockdown is already bypassed. I dont move my apps to extSD, but I use Xposed and some hacks anyway, so what's another patch?
Guys, now what is the added value of having the Android 4.4 KitKat on the Xperia SP exactly?? Moving apps to SD card functionality will be locked down, and the SP on the current software version is fast enough. Please don't come up with the safety argument. Android isn't safe, nor is iOS.
Anonymous, 11 Sep 2014Do you even own this cell? If.Not please move on. I do own it. Do you work for Sony? Please, leave.
Earlier they released such timeline:
Many people bought SP thinking it will get Kit Kat. Sony screwed up, nothing new. Lower-specd Xperia M2 will or already got Kit Kat. Xperia SP not. Just buy a new model or kiss your butt - that's what seems Sony wants to tell us.
Sony announced Android 4.4 for Xperia SP as "Future version" and later on it changed it into "Under investigation". Huge change!
Guys I have complained in my respective country's consumer forum, it is a humble request please do the same at your end. Don't let Sony get away with this.
Renns, 11 Sep 2014I seriously don't understand all the commotion here. You have to understand that the Xperia's ... moreTotally wrong - Samsung Galaxy S3's release date is May 2012, while Xperia SP's release date is March 2013, or an year later ;) Sony are known for their poor product support for years and buying an Xperia is an clear sign that you don't care for Android updates ( because you almost never get them ) ;)
