Xperia SP owner. After getting fooled by them for the update.. I'll no longer buy a Sony smartphone or any device from them.. Period..
Good news, dont waste valuable developer time for midrangers, these are all already well updated for the price, too much if you compare to LG and HTC who never upgrade lower midrange, and rarely upgrade upper midrange.
Besides, is KitKat an upgrade? I take 4.3 over KK any day.
AnonD-106818, 10 Sep 2014I'm an SP owner and I'm not that furious, because on the other side, Samsung makes like lots a... moreROFL. Ur comment is hilarious. It's synonymous with iPhone 3g staying at iOS 4.x
its like they want to say don't buy our phone bcoz we dont do anything for customers......even though the demand of customer is fair according to the spec of their phone..... thank you. SONY. WE WILL NOT BUY YOUR PHONE IN FUTURE...... #RESPECT#MOTOG#MOTOG2#ASUS KEEP IT UP GUYS
I'm an SP owner and I'm not that furious, because on the other side, Samsung makes like lots and lots of phones every year and just leaves them as they were launched, updating flagships only (S1 is still Android 2.1 eclair!!!!!!!!!)
I think Xperia Z is almost one-year and a half old and still got the latest Kit Kat. With Z1 and Z2 already being sold for a while and Z3 also launched, this is somehow unexpected. Perhaps the Z line (as the top line) has a different treatment than mid-range devices.
Omfg... I was expecting SP to get KitKat. Never again Sony. Never again.
from now bye bye to sony... was using from last 4 years. will go go with htc or lg.
I currently using flapship phone xperia z and I very happy with sony update, but I think its unfair for other sony phone
Buy flagship ftw whatever what brand you choose
rakesh0991, 10 Sep 2014my next smartphone will be definately motorola or samsungthe Kitkat update wasn't really groundbreaking, so stop cursing and hating.
as for you bud, try any samsung for the price of your SP, and don't be surprised when you find a terrible screen wrapped in cheap plastic, and running Android Gingerbread (true story)
boosook, 10 Sep 2014an android with JB 4.3 is still much better than the latest version of WP, trust me! ;) I'm u... moreofc not, WP8.1 update 1 is much better the the 1.5 year old 4.3. I have tried both, 4.3 (on a s3 which is better than the xperia SP) is soooo old, laggy and ugly compared to kitkat, android L and WP8.1 update 1, while WP8.1 update 1 is running super smooth on lumia 920( released in the same year of the s3 and have the same hardware of the xperia SP). Don't sweeten the words to tell urself that an obselete software of a platform will be better than the latest software of another platform to bear with the fact that sony sucks in updates. Face it, android updates roll out is a mess ( except for nexus and GPE devices) and Sony updates roll out is worse.
love my xperia m, but finding this out puts me off buying a sony again. im deffo looking to get a moto g 4G next. vanilla android is the way to go! no useless apps installed that cant be uninstalled. nice basic look and for value you cant go wrong at all.
BUY MOTO SMARTPHONES!!!
AnonD-43136, 10 Sep 2014For all those people stuck with Xperia V, T and Sp there is now the z3 compact. Truely awesom... moreI wouldn't be stupid enough to rush out and buy another phone from the company that just SCALDED me.
But then again, maybe it's just me!
Sony has PROMISED on their website a Kitkat update for SP. They are bunch of lyers. Will never buy Sony again.
AnonD-146024, 10 Sep 2014Everyone cursing Sony here shouldn't forget Samsung also chose not to update Galaxy S3 after J... moreTime flies, that must be why you seem to forget the S3 was released over 2 years ago while this Sony phones are from 2013.
Its Disgusting, Xperia L and M are low end phones but Xperia SP is with good configuration, it can run Kitkat OS very well. Even other low specification phones are running with Kitkat OS. Pls. Sony rethink about KITKAT update.
Xperia m is my first android phone and will be my last Sony mobile. Good bye Sony!!!
Planning to buy Motorola.
i am actually hurt. Xperia sp beats each and every mid range android phone released this year( s5 mini, one mini 2, xperia m2, lg g2 mini etc etc) in synthetic benchmark. That was undoubtedly the best midrange phone of last year. It has adreno 320 and 1.7ghz dual krait cores. And was originally promised that it will get kitkat. I dont know who made the call but it was dumb not to update SP. You dont leave behind your one of the best and most popular phone to create massive negative reaction from your customers. I was considering z3c but i wont buy it now and will go for Galaxy Alpha, cause i used xperia u and the same misfortune happened to me, with SP, its twice in a row. I am sorry but thats it, no more Xperias, i've learnt my lesson.
