I agree with a lot of folks that I too am disapointed in Apple. Currenly I own the Iphone 3G. I do love the Iphone itself due to STABLE software, unlike symbian and windows mobile ( wich I both tried before ).
The interface is one of a kind! With symbian and windows mobile there are too many option that CAN fail or DAMAGE the OS itself.
Also I agree that not many features are nessesarry for everyone, although TomTom would be great!
To bad that Apple kept there own design and didn't do some revolusionary.
I would think twice before getting the new Iphone!

Simply too expensive and not worthed... very minimum (mostly) useless updates that already exist since long time back...
I think most apple product are sold just because of the good marketing / hype.
The only + point of iphones is the good application support.
I will keep my iphone 3G, and better wait for another next generation phones which are using better technologies.

Its suprising that Apple keeps updating their backdated phones when compared to the newer generations. I agree that the UI is still the best compared to today's touch phone but just imagine the impact and competition apple could create to other manufactures if apple comes out with specs that are now available in today's handsets...5Mp camera min atleast, sliding keyboard, opening muti-function applications and the list goes on...suprising to see that apple now has finally acknowledge that sms forwarding, video recording and cut,paste like common functions are impt

Anyone know how much this phone will be in UK, makes you laugh as its going to be around $300 in US but it will be about £500 here!!!

Okey, I will be short . With iPHONE Apple has different strategy than all other manifactures. If you see, they never try to compare by digits, parameters and s.o. So why all of you compare them ( Samsung has 12 mp camera and ... no proplem go and buy Samsung then) I think that apple make their phone just to be differnt from all others and they do it very well. Iphone is very quality, stylish product and the thing that it is no upgraded on 2-3 months is good for the interest of all its fans because if you buy Samsung Omnia now, after 3 months you must buy the omnia 2 for example, because the first generation look very old now. Ihone is not so transitional in the time. This saves you money and you still have contemporary phone device.

i have an iphone 3g and im an apple fan ,i love my iphone and i still belive that its the best phone /multimedia device ever , but i cant help feeling a bit dissapointed that thay havent changed the look at all and its not a big leap from the standard 3g model really , its not got the wow factor .sorry apple but ,a bit of a let down really

if u look at the all of the hardware upgrades apple has added to the iphone u will notice: the 1st iphone shud hv come with these features to begin with.

Also, the Symbian system has waaay more software available for it than the iPhone can even dream of. I'm really astounded why Apple fanbois are so proud of their App Store when most apps there should have been *on* the iPhone in the first place, like it is on other smartphones. And they make you pay for those apps, whereas in Symbian land a lot of the programs are *free* and have no silly restrictions designed to squeeze more $$$ from the poor, ignorant owner.

HAHA same looking phone with little extra features!?!? Add an S and charge more for it! Ohhhh video! I could play video on my first symbian, Ngage, phone! Where's the flash for the camera? WHAT A JOKE!!! Nokia phones already have all of these features standard since release date(N, E series)

Don't you realize that those specs you mention the iPhone has only proves that its OS & UI is so bloated it needs all that hardware just to run the phone at a decent speed. At least Symbian was designed from the ground up for mobile phones and thus needs only more efficient low-powered mobile RISC chips to run it. The apps you're so proud of are, for the most part, built-in to other smartphones for years now and are taken for granted except in the Apple world.

The only good thing about this phone is the internal memory, but N97 completly puts Apple out of competition with the possibility up to 64GB.

LG S-Class interface also not bad just less on software add on. Samsung also working on it.
Apple is release same old spec like 3 years before. I won't change if I already own previous iPhone.
No point change on it.... It is some how just release for fooling those fans that never think twice and blind following.
