There's a common thread among all the haters...
This phone does this, that phone does this and this other phone does something else...
Why are you pulling the features from several different models to go up against one phone?
E series 3.2 megapixel maximum, music express series 3.2 megapixel maximum, Blackberry 3.2 megapixel maximum, Android phones 3.2 megapixel maximum, Palm Pre 3.2 megapixel camera etc.
E series low internal memory, Palm Pre 4GB internal (that's all), Blackberry 1 GB internal sure you can get micro SD but how many of you will buy 32GB cards?
There are only two phones with 32GB of Internal memory.
Blackberries, the Pre and Android don't do video calls, what Id like the see is Video call usage figures across all the networks, it would be such a miniscule number it's not worth reporting.
Once you try Mac, there's no going back.

$A69 a month I get $A400 of calls text etc, free infra network calls on nights and weekends and 1GB of data, I use data heavily and it averages out at around 600MB a month.
The 8GB is zero upfront, the 16GB is $A121 upfront.
In Australia the cost of the iPhone is equvalent to most other smartphones.
Of course there are lower plans for people who don't use phones much and lower specced phones as well, I don't know why people want phones if they don't want to pay to use them it's like getting a car and not paying for petrol so you leave it in the garage and walk everywhere.
When you look at the iPhone you have to take into account the whole experience, which having used phones for sixteen years, the last ten with data bundles, the iPhone wins hands down, the iPhone is the first phone I've used which provides a viable alternative to switching on my PC when I get home.
I probably won't upgrade to the new iPhone when it's launched here on the 26th June, just like I won't upgrade to any other phone.

it still lacks bluetooth file sharing,fm radio,front camera video call,divx/wmv player,flash player,OLED screen,replaceable battery etc..
3.2 megapixel camera ? that is on 2005 phones
VGA video recording ? that is on 2006 phones
current phones have 8MP cameras with led flash and D1(720x480) video recording and now are heading to 12MP with xenon flash and HD(720p) video recording, 1ghz cpu and 512mb ram.

Hi everyone i just found out the real reason behind apple's faulty upgrade
They were sued so many times so they to use the so called reserve money and same with spending all that money on pointless ads trying to take on microsoft and nokia and paying off elan for stealing and paying off the people the make the leaks for the hype and i almost forgot paying off the companies cause the apple developers like to steal just like them

Hey im Very Much happy to see Iphone 3Gs.. I dont know when they gonna lauch 3G Service in india by VODAFONE.. So that we can buy this mobile through them.. and even the cost they are selling here is too much 500$ for Mobile and Monthly Rental of 20$.. i mean for the Iphone 3G.. Poor People here.. Wish we had Networks like you.. :(

you got all the point there. i really AGREE. well for i phone lovers compare again with other brand. better to find good hardware rather than software. WHY? because software always upgradeable, but not hardware. unless ur iphone support ram socket, processor socket or anything so you can upgrade the component

Why do Apple think people only want to choose how much memory it has to have? Other specs are important as well... another marketing thing, since it's the only thing Apple is currently on par with.

Still way behind technology wise, ui will be great as usual though. Why dont apple use better hardware? Its put me off the new iphone, decided to go for omnia hd i8910 instead.

Just finish watching the iPhone 3Gs guide tour from Apple. The new features like Compass, Voice Control, Video Recording, Spotlight Search ... all look cools!
But .... wait a moment, this ain't enough! All is software updates, and we already knew the current iPhone also can do it just depends on whether Apple going to do it or not. Or any third party can do that.
With such only software updates, it did not appealing people that own previous model to change again, people that don't have iPhone probably they still don't want.
iPhone 3Gs is the worst ever plan by Apple for releasing it.
What Apple needs to do is:
- Video call
- Better MP camera, at least put on 5MP
- New design (at least made more variety of color selection)
- AMOLED screen
- Highest Resolution (I believe even next iPhone also won't change as all their Apps Store product is fix to current resolution)
- HD support
- Bluetooth file sharing
- Real photo during zooming, not using pre-create thumbnail when zooming, it is ready bad after zoom. This is a trick that why you browse photo ready fast but it is a kind of cheat because you are watching the thumbnail not the actual photo.

If this is so dreamy and the ultimate why are long way round workarounds needed for basic functions? Not acceptable and you gotta agree it's not justifiable. Really!
Ancient phones? I meant the other companies had these basic functions when they were ancient phones yet since they they have continued to evolve and now are way ahead of those basic operations. Look at HTC and their threaded messaging, look at Samsung and Sony and LG all with their top cameras (8MB pixel, autofocus, smile detection, face detection, HD video on the Omnia HD, video on many phones (with audio thanks apple) for many years), built in digital compass aint new, others already have it, tethering has been around for years!, it's just not up to date.
The software is amazing, no argument. Nobody is close to that i agree. However, imagine how dominating and a great package this would be with the hardware to match!!!! UNTOUCHABLE!
But it doesn't so as i rate the features and omissions as reasonable to expect in this modern day standard.
One much more important thing since posting my message a moment ago is the price!

32gb with 18 month £34.50 contract. Phone price of virtually £300!!! HELLO!!! Get a grip!
It's a lovely phone and yeah they've caught up with some of the specs and definitely the software but you can ram that price!!!

p.s. i'm not an IPhone hater as you said, i wanted to be tempted into one!

Wow.. Not worth the cost of an upgrade to GS.. The 2 best things that the new OS 3.0 has to offer is MMS and Tethering.. and it's not available in the US. Not Apple's fault, but AT&T. I wish they'd open the carrier service so that I could put my phone on a different network - maybe one that allows me to take advantage of the technology that I am paying for... just my 2 cents.

What is gained through having the Iphone far outweighs what is missed in terms of MMS and whatnot. If you are such a heavy user, there are workarounds available, like emailing network specific numbers to forward MMS. This new Iphone and 3.0 are only adding even more features that, to be honest, Apple didn't really need to do. Apple was already gaining much ground on the mobile market even without all of those features. What does that say? The new Iphone now has everything that "ancient" phones have and more, not to mention the things it already had that made it the most sought-after phone.
Pre tried hard to defeat the Iphone, and they made a wonderful device (I used it just today), but it simply doesn't match up. Its a great phone for sprint users, and a good phone overall, but phone makers are going to have to try doing things differently if they hope to stand a chance.
It's stupid to hate the Iphone because "It's only JUST NOW getting MMS!!!" It doesn't matter when it gets it, just that it has it in the present which, in 10 days will be true. "It got it so late" is the only thing Iphone haters have left to hate. Get over it, enjoy :)

Tucks, 09 Jun 2009I also work for a mobile company and own smartphone's myself, the battery is definatley as goo... moremaybe some units have issue but in general comparing iPhone to other brands no doubt that iPhone battery life can not last like the others... nothing is perfect the screen resoultion and the brightness we have to pay for that... and in iPhone case we pay that through the battery... in the 1st month i thought i can use iPhone 3G as primary phone but after 4 months No Way...
at the moment i'm thinking to see the review of the iPhone 3g (S) and i hope Apple did some improvment in the battery because seriously i'm thinking to change the iPhone to X1 or Black Berry Bold
of course that doesn't mean that iPhone is not a good phone but in my case using iPhone for phone calls, SMS, e-mai & browsing the internet is too much,,, and i must say in general it was wonderful experience.
