Alonso, 13 Sep 2014don't compare cheap brand name Lenovo with Sony please, not worth at all lol I fail to see your point. Sony failed xperia c users while users of "cheap" phones enjoyed their kitkat update. Maybe, it is because sony users are cheap and they dont deserve an update...
lolol, 13 Sep 2014well, this is sort of what you get when you put your faith in a phone with a MediaTek chipset;... morehow the heck are u saying it when android one phones are launching with 4.4.4 out of the box on a mediatek6582 processor :/
Please please update the android version I just bought the phone 2weeks ago hoping it is the best
Don't buy Sony phone. Because you will never get an update for it.

Big LOL to sony fans. I have not bought another sony phone since ditching my sony live w/ walkman phone because of poor software support. They updated this well-specced phone at that time from gingerbread to a buggy ICS and that's it. No more subsequent updates.
Another thing, most MT6589 phones and tablets from competitors like Lenovo were updated to Kitkat. So please don't feel bad Xperia C users. Instead, just make sure that it does not happen to you again by not buying something that's not worthy of an update...

People in GsmArena notably prefer Sony phones (for various reasons, better perceived quality being one of them), so for the most part of the year they are on a rave to glorify how awesome their Sony phone. This goes on for months before and after launch.
The day Sony gives them the no-support finger it's when the "knee-jerk" reaction comes (which is what you see here).
In short terms, people here are directly affected by this (because they bought Sony and got the treatment first hand). Adding to that, because they were so vocal on expressing their love for Sony now there is an heightened feel of betrayal.
It's true all "other" manufacturers may do the exact same thing (or worst), but then again, this weren't costumers of the "other" manufacturers (they were costumers of Sony thus their "beef" is with Sony first and before most).
Honestly, every day there are more reasons to stick to nexus or even motorola. I doubt sony will be treating even their flagships well with another one launching every 6 months

Sony are 100% to blame (and even if Mediatek didn't release updates, which they did, would Sony be to blame).
One answer on why Sony didn't gave an update for the Xperia C: USE OF MEDIATEK PROCESSOR. Mediatek processors rarely give software updates on all of its mediatek-powered phones. DEVELOPERS ARE NOT TO BLAME WITH IT.
sorry for my bad English.
No more Sony Xperia mobile for me. I hate them.. My Xperia TX won't get the KitKat update, just for a year plus.
I'm very disappointed with this news. I just bought this last January and now its EOL.
That's why I'm now using a Xiaomi Mi3 now, no regrets.
Other brands don't most low and midrange phone too. I don't get it why gsmarena is very particular with Sony. Especially now that the z3 compact is on the marketing stage. I better report this.
It's up to Sony.....I'm just gonna sell my XC & buy another brand if they won't update the XC. It doesn't matter if it is a mid-range phone...it is still useful...Sony has to see that! They are making us fool creating a compact style that doesn't really make any sense!
Awesome more power for my hydroeletric dam. 100% powered by the tears of screwed Android users.
I have Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0(SM-T210) . I bought it in 2013 summer. It came with 4.1.2 and today it has still 4.1.2 NO more Samsung for me. Thanks!
well, this is sort of what you get when you put your faith in a phone with a MediaTek chipset; Sony can only wait for MediaTek to release support for future Android OS builds, and MediaTek are notorious for keeping devices stuck on versions of Android, with the only model that has made it to KitKat being the octa-core one? It really isn't Sony's fault here, plus the Xperia C isn't targeting people who need the latest and greatest, it is targeting the budget end of the market, where people are assumed to not require anything more than base features for a smartphone.

Clearly you're just another Apple haters like everyone else does. FYI I've used both Android and iOS, liked the flexibility and customization of Android, but love the stability of iOS more. :)
