My question is WHY? RAM nowadays is DIRT CHEAP, what would be the difference in price between 1gb and 2gb for the manufacturer? 5$? 2$?
AnonD-212255, 17 Sep 2014I can't believe you typed that out. Not clever at all. lulz. Well I understand iFans can never accept the actual fact of Apple.
the 4s can even run asphalt 8 on a 512mb ram way better than galaxy nexus on a 1gb of ram
LOLS at all the iDiots who says Android users can't afford an iPhone. Will you pay a higher sum of money for something lousier or lower sum of money for something better? Its called common sense. As someone has pointed out, if Apple is going to just put in 1GB of ram, why the hell even put in 64bit A8 chip? And of course it make sense why Apple didn't put in better specs into their phones, the iCraps CAN'T MULTITASK. Its year 2014 and a 'smartphone' can't multitask. Thats pretty smart eh.
So what happens if Apple decided to add more RAM to iPhones? The iFans will suddenly say "More RAM is important, because....". So iFans, you need to have your iBrains checked for iDefects!
Apple are IOS which are more like a close OS which will reduce a lot of third party app that will reduce the lagness. RAM will still be a factor on phone processing power. While android give more freedom in customization. There will a few third party app running background as it improve multi tasking. Still, the companies still earning our consumer money. That no need to fight ourself below their stage.
Anonymous, 17 Sep 2014since when was adding ram considered innovation? IOS operating system is operating system tha... moreWell, since it advertises it to be doing "multitasking" and having "cutting edge" specs. 1GB doesnt cut it anymore. If you do really want REAL multitasking that is. and you cant use the potential of the 64bit processor they are sooo bragging about since 1GB is a bottleneck! any technical person knows that!
Anonymous, 17 Sep 2014experience is also cr*p since there are so many things one can't do on an iphone but can be do... more1st ... your English is cr...
"If the RAM is not needed for daily use, power savings is more important".
iPhone basher here are missing the point entirely. SoCs WILL get faster and more efficient even without increasing screen resolution. You're point is that higher resolutions don't affect performance, which is completely inaccurate.
1. Apple would increase the RAM only if it made sense to increasing performance. Don't you think that Apple would want MORE than a 25% increase in performance particularly since RAM is cheap to add??
2. Since Apple custom designs the A8, obviously their testing showed that increasing RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB DID NOT significantly increase performance on the iPhone 6.
3. AND increasing RAM from 1 GB to 2 GB DECREASED battery time by increasing power usage.
It's not that ios is optimized for 1 gig or less of ram or ios is so special that it does not require more than 1 gig of ram. It's just that Apple limited capabilities of ios on iphones so that they can put only 1 gig of ram in the phone. Higher memory requires larger battery.
Hmmmm maybe because Android is using REAL multitasking? Apple phones don't even have this concept at all so it works with 1GB of RAM and the 64bit processor hype that they can't really use the whole potential because it needs 4GB RAM and above. :) Thank you apple for screwing us yet again #Notthenextbigthing
AnonD-277063, 18 Sep 2014ahhahahahahahahahahahhahahaah i can't stop laughing! 1GB RAM ROFL .. and all u apple fans do i... moredream
This is a great info
ahhahahahahahahahahahhahahaah i can't stop laughing! 1GB RAM ROFL .. and all u apple fans do is deny deny deny that apple shortchanged you for a 2 year old tech, which you will be paying in full price or more...
at least you should complain a little, so that apple will up their ante/game by providing you with better tech specs...
i know i know i know, you'll say you don't need those (octa core,16MP cam or 4GB ram)! guess what?! I don't either, and I sure don't use the full 3GB RAM or full 8 cores, or take 16MP photos every time! but the continuous push for android manufacturers to provide better specs, benefits consumers like us! (we get more for what we paid for) it's the manufacturer's problem to increase the complexity of their tech, and it's sure not our problem at all! why should you worry about them?
what a lazy apple!!
my guess is, if apple continues such a game, i'm pretty sure they'll end up like blackberry...
