Just to let you know the UK prices are
Apple Iphone 3g S 16gb £440.40
Apple Iphone 3g S 32gb £538.30
white and black are the same price
but by the looks of things o2 are still selling the Iphone 3g for £342.50, but its most likly while stocks last.

I always find it highly amusing that the only thing that equals the extent of Apple's "iShiny" marketing influence over lots of people is it's epic failure to get any traction on a few other people; myself included. I don't deny Apple's design prowess and I definitely don't _hate_ their stuff, but as long as the price/performance ratio is what it is currently, I would simply never consider buying any of it... 's that simple. And no, I'm not a rabid fanboy either. I had Nokia, now I have Samsung, and next I'll have whatever suits me best.

For all those iPhone haters or who own Omnia of Nokia or so on... why don't you stay on the blogs/forums where they talk about those phones and you come here to say that Omnia is better than iPhone? If you don't care why are you waisting time on this. Yes, I have an iPhone and I never went on a forum where they talk about Nokia to say it is no good. I don't know, maybe it is, but I don't care, I just love my phone and even if I spent half of my salary on it, I think it was worth every penny.

Having an Iphone nowadays is a status symbol of sorts. So no matter that it lacks a lot of features which you can find in samsung or lg or nokia smart phone, people will continue to prefer the iphone over other brand. that's how good steve jobs and his marketing people are.

I feel you guys on this. The price of the iPhone in Europe is way too high. Europe has way better phones than the iPhone anyway so I don't know why anyone would buy it. Sure the iPhone is the best phone for the US, but there are a ton of phones beating it in Europe.

Obviously you are not getting what the saying implies. "iPhone is a luxury." This doesn't not mean it's literally luxury (Like a vehicles interior), it means that it's not an item that you really need. It's for people who can afford it. Another example is beer is a luxury. You don't need beer, you can buy water or get it for free instead.

This practically sums it up. If you think the iPhone 3G S is too expensive, don't buy it. It's a luxury, and not needed. Nevertheless, this phone is for the people who can afford it so stop going around and saying "rip off, overpriced", go buy a different phone then, like the quote suggests.

Mate, I was using the N97 as an example for specs comparison as it is one of the newer phones. I also stated that the iPhone 3G S and a WM devices are the touch pro 2 are in the same $1200aud+ price range. How balanced do you want me to be? So balanced that you want me to say the iPhone is a rip off when it has about the same specs and price as the touch pro 2? In fact, the touch pro 2 is more expensive with only slightly better specs such as ram.

Mate, look on the list, do you see a HTC Touch Pro 2??? or any other high end WM devices like Xperia X1??? In Australia, these phones are bout $1500AUD mate while when converting the 3G S prices from euro to AUD, it's only $1200+. Learn to read next time, and if you already know how to, read more carefully.

BTW, WinMO and Symbian already have a multitude of GPS software like Garmin, TomTom, Mapking, Route66, Sygic, and a few others. U talk as if TomTom coming to the iphone as if its a revolution!!

P%nm, 17 Jun 2009Imagine the GPS Apps knowing which way the phone is facing, such as Tom Tom or Navigon...
.... moreare u assuming TomTom will consult the internal compass during routing or is that a fact.
If i remembered correctly u need to prime or calibrate the compass with some flicking movements before use
