Just looked at four different Note 4 devices and I can confirm that this is not an issue.
The gap is NOT as thick as a bussiness card. Its about 0,1 mm thick (about 1 thin notepad paper thick) and 0,3-0,5 mm deep. It's not visible if you don't shine with a lamp from a perfect ange and look very closely, and it's only on the right and upper side. Any gaps larger, fitting a bussiness card, like in the picture, is a defect. Although I suspect the pictures are fake.
Almost every phone I've seen has had a small gaps I'd wager (and this is just a guess) that it's for expansion and contraction under heating or cooling of the device (which can happen often depending on the heating of it with use, charging, and the ambient temperature the phone is being subjected to).
You wouldn't want it to expand and have no where to go and crack the glass, would you? I'm not a Samsung apologist (if it's a legitimate problem, then it should be fixed in production ASAP), but I'm just using common sense.
lol i'm guessing they're expecting repairs already? it's a massive gap and no it's not normal to have such a big gap, uneven gaps too apparently. doesn't have the finesse of the iPhone 6.
wow. think i might stop coming here. prior to my posting the site is reporting 285 comments on this. no-one actually bothered to do any kind of hunting around:
A small gap appears around the outside of the device case
- This gap is a necessary manufacturing feature and some minor rocking or vibration of parts may occur.
- Over time, friction between parts may cause this gap to expand slightly.

you won't see this in the next iteration of the phone. even though there is an apparent design reason for it, like helping to dissapate internal heat and accounting for expansion, consumers apparently don't like that gap meaning samsungs next version will have to do away with it and find some other way to deal with it.
the panel is in a midframe, this is totally normal. Many phones have this. It is is important to get it out for repair!
Note 3 user, 30 Sep 2014Haha! Build issues - my a$$ - it is not an issue - it is as it is - I "consumed" 2 n... moreIf that was true then why wouldn't samsung comment stating the gaps are their for protection purposes? Plus the gaps on the n3 is not this big. All you fanboys need to stop and just look at the big picture, it doesn't matter which brand you like just get the problems fixed and protect the consumers please.
Metal cover , , different types and test , is good step of Samsung . I think galaxy edges have no such issues and that is more interesting phone . I have seen on YouTube seems really next level and great innovation of Samsung.
If you know physics, specifically, Thermal Expansion then you're not going to be confused about this.. :)
You see the gaps in between tiles on floorings? Well, probably it's there to avoid cracks.... Solid materials bound to expand when exposed to heat.... I believe that will be the reason why they have that gap.. It's no big deal :)
Nokia7446, 30 Sep 2014Don't worry.. Samsung worshipper are used to low quality.coming from i guy sporting nokia in his name?
Haha! Build issues - my a$$ - it is not an issue - it is as it is - I "consumed" 2 note 3 now running my 3rd unit (lost the first two units) and all of them have the gap. And yeah a business card can be fitted in - but since all the units were like this I hardly call this an issue. BTW samsung galaxy S2 was the same - there was a gap too.
Have you ever thought that maybe the gap is needed so it can move around a little when the phone is dropped - hence avoiding breaking the display??
just look at the equation: iBend+iBuggy+iSheep=Fail.samsung still the best out there
Anonymous, 30 Sep 2014huh?
where did you get that "fact" from?"jKrL", yesterday under the iphone 6 bend article you said:
"Its a complete fake news!
there is no such issue as bendy iPhone. Why are you so naïve and trust a handful of picture and video evident?"
Its called your encoded location.
You wouldn't accept a handful of bent iphone pics/videos but you accept one grainy Note 4 pic.
The only company kept its product from these hardware malfunctions this month is SONY. The Z3 & Z3C are the unique phones with magnificent build quality one has ever seen.
