I am a samsung fan amd like their phones but they started to slip with s4, and then a big mistake waa the s5, far to similar to s4 and they are at it again with the note series.... come on guys where is the flair.....also these chinese phones are really hammering lots of phone companies... high specs with low prices, apple have their own market because there is no other companies with similar phomes. Androids have litterslly tons of options so no wonder you can struggle if you do not put 100%
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2014Agreed on building material, that is debatable.
However, Samsung have been all over the ma... moreThe only things that hold back in phones like the S5 or note 4 are the little things.
The S5 was the overall best phone released at point and wad the biggest of updates compared to the other devices.
But they could have worked a little more on low light photography and ois. Also increased battery a little more.
The biggest thing was sticking to 2GB ram.
The note 4 is going to be the best device there is. Even aggressively addressing ois and low light photography.
But not increasing battery, not using streetwise speakers like they used to, and reverting to USB 2.0 and not having water protection kind of makes you scratch your head... a s far as water protection maybe they need more time for getting it write with the metal frame.
I think another much bigger thing that would help them is memory. Went can they supply others with such amounts of memory but not make them available for their flagships.
But the end of the day all devices have faults and Samsung is generally ahead. But competition had gotten much stiffer. If they want to keep that market share they have to do a little more than just being better.
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2014Correct, which is why the decline is not entirely due to iPhone. Chinese manufacturers, and ev... moreExactly, they aren't having problem selling more phones, their problem is the fierce competition (from China) that is driving prices down.
They are resisting this by throwing away more money in marketing. Dunno how that will play out. Sure, it's been working just fine for Apple... but Samsung isn't Apple.
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2014Agreed on building material, that is debatable. However, Samsung have been all over the ma... moreI'm not saying they shouldn't pick up in some areas. But what they are doing with VR and edge ate stepping stones towards the future for themselves and others.
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2014Agreed on building material, that is debatable. However, Samsung have been all over the ma... moreLol. You might have had point but using VR and edge as the examples you completely failed your claim.
Or... there is lots of amazing competitor's with alternate amazing phones to choose from besides just Samsung and good technology has caught up to even low end phones.
Others are just finally getting some of their own market share....??
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2014Poly carbonate is the better build material.
And technology caught up.
That is not the same ... moreAgreed on building material, that is debatable.
However, Samsung have been all over the map with their products lately, too concerned with having something to counter Apple at every corner, resulting in "We're the first!" products like the Note Edge, the VR Goggles which are merely niche items, yet waste so much R&D resources.
That little bit of slack in focus resulted in a slightly sub-par SGS5, and Galaxy Note 4, which could have been so much better. The result of which now Samsung is being punished.
With rival products like the Meizu MX4, Xiaomi Mi 4, and LG G3, Samsung has a lot to do to convince others its still got its head in the game. Whatever the case may be, it's days of Android dominance may not be so bulletproof anymore.
Anonymous, 07 Oct 2014muhahaha sammy is going bankrupt if they dont do anything innovative which they dindt do for 2 yearsAs compared to????

That is not the same as what you are implying at all.
Rijo Abraham, 07 Oct 2014Note 4, Edge are all underpowered. They are just eye candy in specs. I would rather get bendga... moreIf only apple focused on design more than materials i would consider an iphone, thankfully xperia surpasses noth criteria
Samsung's time is over. Too much market saturation. They peaked at Galaxy S3...and that's it.
samsung will go down... it is too big NOT to fail!!! seriously - it pumped billions in facilities that should give Samsung chances to suply for the "ever increasing demand", but now demand is decrease but the billions of investements can not be taken back or put on halt!!! and demand will decrease even more (come on, be realistic - those cheepar and better "Huawies, Xaomies, Miromaxes and what not" are taking over cheap and midrange, but Apple still holds his ground in premium and those same "Huawies, Xaomies, Miromaxes and what not" are stepping in premiums too). too big NOT to fail - that is term for giants that think market will only go up for them and it is time to invest to capitalize on that false self presumption. (Nokia, BB, Moto - those are some powerfull exGiants)

Rijo Abraham, 07 Oct 2014Note 4, Edge are all underpowered. They are just eye candy in specs. I would rather get bendga... morethen go buy your phone that bends . where the camera extrudes the body .note edge isn't underpowered and has lots of usefull features that your bending phone doesn't have .
anyhow have a good day
Ludo, 07 Oct 2014Samsung is 35% of South Corea GDP, you really think they care about Apple sales ? Not much. Th... moreThey care about Apple's sales deeply, because it affects theirs. Apple too cares about rival's sales, they ignored the large screen market for quite a while, and seeing Samsung's phablet sales soar, they have finally reacted. Good for Apple, as they are showing a change of philosophy these days.
It would not be so good for Samsung to take on an air of arrogance, right when Apple is taking on an air of humility.

Their profit has been declined since 2... moreCorrect, which is why the decline is not entirely due to iPhone. Chinese manufacturers, and even local rivals like LG have also been punishing Samsung with competitive phones. Samsung needs to get their act together.
