A little too late for me! Bought this device, on the 27th of June and got all the "drama&tantrums" the 5800 exhibits on the very first night.
The phone has a mind of its own ditto 5800,the touch screen is a "Luck Screen" - if you're lucky your key-press is registered else the phone pretends it dint hear you!The S60V5 from Nokia is done up so hastily and is an absolute farce of an OS.I have been using Noks since the 3310-3650-6600-N70/73/96-E90 days and is hard to believe Nokia makes these new phones.I suspect Nokia supplies all Mobile review sites like this with a Completely different handset, else there is no explanation how the sites could just miss all there errors! This firmware update is like a pain killer for a night, thats it!Returned the phone back to the dealer on the 28th of June and picked up my old iPhone 3G which I traded for the N97.Feels like I have come back to 2009 after time warp to 10,000BC!
I just updated my N97's software and it works flawless,,,,,,,,,, Thanks Nokia, You're the best !
Waiting for the next firmware update for the grandfather of S60v5, 5800 XpressMusic..
C'mon Nokia, we know u do care to ur customer even a lil late..
Fix many things here n there especially the camera performance, snappier homescreen--add widget or widen the shortcut capacity, n a bit further performance boost, then it should be push way-further it worldly sale!
Great,.. now waiting for Vodafone UK to get their lazy a$$ into gear and release this update for us!
Just checked the OTA and a new firmware is also available for the NAM N85.
Looks like the update hasn't made it to India as yet. I tried updating the phone but it didn't show an update available.
wtf nokia i still waiting for n78 firmware!!! im a nokia fan boy... but nokia does disappoint me sometimes, n97 bugs should of fix before release!!!!
the reason why phone manufactures release phones like this is cuz they never cared about us and never wil and for the people that take sides all phonemanufactures are the same it's all about money not consumers being happy phones that charge via usb is old and shud have been standard a long time ago and all phones shud be water and dust proof by now for example bud no they wil never give us something to last because they reli on uss buying new models p.s people owning a 97 might feel stupid if a n97 mini comes out
Never buy a nokia when it's just out they allways doe this 'bring phones out with on finised software to let you worry about doing updates and change codes NEVER EVER BUY A NOKIA WHEN IT'S JUST OUT I LURNT MY LESSON!!
still a nice weapon.
Anonymous, 01 Jul 2009wats the point of testing the phones and then not fixing them before the releaseTotally agree, very shoddy to release second rate products. Many product muct be law go through testing to see they are safe before issue, why do mobile phone manufacturers always let new customers down, are the clueless as to the damage this does to their reputation or are they so arrogant they don't give a (pick your choice of word here)
Anonymous, 01 Jul 2009let me know if it works. Trying to help u.it didnt work lol maybe it has something to do with the green key being touch screen maybe it doesnt register unless the handsets working thanks for trying i really appreciate it cheers.....
rubbish set .. i thnk n-85 is better ... infact n-79 has the same functions and works better ... its a brick to hold ..
i have nokia 5800... i'm steal waiting for the new firmware for 5800 :)
It's a nice concept. But the phone is not stable. Users in Nigeria will suffer more. Most frebbies on OVI will not upload into the phone. Should not have bought the phone.
No, 3G on T-Mobile in the US won't work. Only 3G on AT&T does.
simon, 01 Jul 2009i have just updated the software by changing the product code but the phone wont switch on its... morethe same thing happened to me on my n95 and this is what worked for me. 3 finger trick. Hold down * 3 and green call touch at the same time while powering on phone. It might ask u which country.
The most annoying thing on this phone is the double tap to launch some applications/fonctions.
It's supposed to be a touchphone, not windows XP on a computer !
wats the point of testing the phones and then not fixing them before the release
