Huawei's sub-brand Honorhold an event today where the the Honor 6A was the main star. Alongside it the company announced two new tablets - the Honor Play Tab 2 with 8” display and the Honor Play Tab 2 with 9.6” display.
Both tablets are powered by Snapdragon 425 with quad-core CPU, clocked at 1.4 GHz and run on Android 7.0 Nougat. They offer 5MP cameras on the back and 2MP snappers on the front. The battery capacity is 4800 mAh.
There are three versions with different memory + storage combo - Wi-Fi Only 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage, LTE 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage and LTE 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage. All devices are equipped with microSD slot, and the ones with LTE connectivity also have a dual-SIM slot.
The only difference between the tablets is the design - the 8” Play Tab 2 is portrait-oriented while its bigger version is meant for landscape usage.
Prices start from CNY799 (around $115) and go as high as CNY1,499 (almost $220), depending on the version.
Also, they replace the name Honor with Huawei in some regions, making the argument for the name of Huawei equivalent to premium pricing irrelevant.
Honor is supposed to be more orientated to young people I think and is more of online only presence. Huawei caters to all. Honor is usually also cheaper than Huawei because Honor is less known but the quality and everything is on par with what ...
