This week all eyes were on Apple as it had its WWDC 2019 keynote. The biggest Apple developer event of the year gave us iOS 13 with a new Dark Mode, a swipeable keyboard, new Photos app and a tone of optimizations.
The iPad got its own OS, aptly-named iPadOS, which brings the iPad a bit closer to the Mac thanks to improved multitasking and more capable (if still not power user-capable) file handling.
Apple also delivered macOS Catalina, new tvOS and watchOS versions and dissolved iTunes (on the Mac) into three apps - Music, Podcasts and TV - us Windows users will make due with the good old iTunes.
There was some hardware at the WWDC 2019 - a new insanely powerful Mac Pro and a Pro Display XDR with a crazy expensive stand.
One final Apple story of the week - a fresh rumor surfaced that the iPhone 11 lineup will adopt 128GB as its base storage. Here's hoping that it's correct.
Meanwhile, Xiaomi and Oppo teased an under-display selfie camera, which essentially means the end to motorized selfie snappers and notches. But before you get overly excited - this technology will still need a year or two to make it to a phone near you.
We saw a few Galaxy Note10 stories this week. First we got credible-looking renders of the phone showing nearly any bezel and absolutely no headphone jack. We later saw the Galaxy Note10 with 5G and 12GB of RAM on Geekbench. Finally a launch price for the Galaxy Note10 surfaced - expect it to cost around $1,100-$1,200.
Xiaomi will launch a flagship Mi 9T on June 12, which is expected to be the first look at the Redmi K20 powerhouse, that's expected to launch in India on July 15. The much-anticipated Mi Band 4 (which is already up for sale) will launch a day before the Xiaomi Mi 9T on June 11.
Nokia and Huawei each announced a phone. The Nokia 2.2 is a humble Android One phone with a 5.7-inch screen and Helio A22 chipset while the Huawei Maimang 8 has a Kirin 710, a 6.21-inch screen and three cameras on the back.
That's it for this week - see you next one!
This is the second teased prototype in the pursuit of the death of the infamous notches.
The renders confirm the rumors of Samsung ditching the headphone jack on the Galaxy Note10.
The Galaxy Note10 5G will be rocking 12GB of RAM.
Siri gets some improvements too, and the OS will enable smaller app downloads and faster installs.
Current models start at 64GB. Even the iPad Pro starts at 64GB, even though it tops out at a whopping 1TB.
The most affordable Android One Nokia phone
Oppo is already looking one step ahead in the race to an all screen phone.
It's a re-branded Huawei P Smart+ 2019 with more RAM.
It comes with a bunch of new features mostly focused around productivity.
The rebadged Redmi K20 should be joined by the Pro model too.
The craziest and most powerful Mac and display that Apple has ever made.
Check out all the iOS and iPadOS supported devices.
The phone will arrive in exactly six weeks, confirms Xiaomi VP.
Apple's next major macOS is called Catalina and it won't include the good ol' iTunes.
