Samsung highlighted the improved durability of its foldable smartphones when it announced them earlier this month. Improvements include added water-resistance, a reinforced metal frame, stronger hinge, and a more durable folding display surface. American provider of protection plans Allstate posted its findings to YouTube in a short subtitled video.
The first drop test shown was the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 5G while its internal display was open. This test was performed from six feet high and dropped directly on its internal display. It did see noticeable scuffing on the corners of the frame and there was minor but permanent pixel damage on the screen. Then, the Z Fold3 was dropped on its cover screen which shattered on the first drop.
In the "Dunk test", the Z Fold3 was submerged in a swimming pool five feet deep for thirty minutes. The Z Fold3's IPX8 water resistance rating is officially capable of surviving in 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) of freshwater for up to 30 minutes.
Allstate says the Galaxy Z Fold3 is the most durable foldable phone they've tested.
Of course it won't apple are already three generations behind. There first attempt will be a glorified prototype
it's plastic, it will scratch on level 2 no matter what same goes with apple lol, they may use screens made by Samsung so it is same
Doesn't change the fact that the screen is still garbage that will scratch at level 2 with finer grooves at level 3. When Apple makes a foldable it will be the best in the business.
