Apple iOS Rumors

Next year Apple is finally launching a new iPhone SE, multiple rumors have claimed so far. The last iPhone SE came in 2022 so this has definitely been overdue. While we have been expecting Apple to simply call the new device iPhone SE, as it has so far with all of its predecessors, a new rumor today from a tipster over on X claims things will be different this time.

Apparently, it won't be the iPhone SE, but the iPhone 16E instead. That would be an interesting move for sure, bringing the SE into the main iPhone family, name-wise. So far the SE line has been completely separate and always felt a bit ignored.

Based on what my source has reported, it seems that the new iPhone that Apple will unveil in 2025 will not be called iPhone SE4, but iPhone 16E. It should feature a design similar to the iPhone 14, with an OLED display and an action button. The available colors will be white and… pic.twitter.com/Vm8DCh1Xo0

Maybe this will change things, who knows. Above you can see a purported protective case design for the iPhone 16E. The device will apparently only come in white and black. Its design has long been rumored to be very reminiscent of the iPhone 14. It will have an OLED screen and Face ID for the first time (that feels strange to write in late 2024, but here we are).

Yesterday we heard about the iPhone 16E's pricing, and it will be more expensive than its predecessor by $70 if that rumor is correct, starting at $499. Considering the bigger screen, the Face ID support, the 8GB of RAM and A18 chipset, the 48 MP main camera swiped from the iPhone 16, that's not a bad deal in our book for those who desperately want an iPhone but can only afford this one.

The E would stand for essential. With the iPhones 17 Air, we can see where Apple is going. We have Macbook Air, Macbook Pro. We have iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro. I'm predicting that Apple will migrate the iPhone lineup into iPhone E (Esse...

It’s already reported that Apple would use BoE as primary supplier for the panel with LG as a backup.
