Anonymous, 02 Jul 2008does it work abroad? like europe? i can't find anywhere that says it is dual band.Specs say:
General 2G Network GSM 900 / 1800
GSM 900 / 1800 are the two bands it supports, so, yes, it is dual band and will work in Europe. I don't really know much but I think most of US and China are a different story 'coz they use a different standard (different from GSM) or band.

Difference wouldn't be that big so if you like 1208, go for it; you can do away with a little less standby time for a screen that's more pleasing to look at.

Two more questions....
when i see the specifications for Nokia 1200 a... moreI wasn't able to use a 1200 thoroughly but it's safe to assume that display type is the only difference. I prefer 1208 because of its colored screen. There is also a difference in the way menu items are being displayed. 1208 shows three (the currently active item is enlarged the next two items in the list are displayed in a smaller size) while 1200 shows only one menu item at a time.
I don't know the latest firmware version but my unit's version is 5.06 and is a stable one.
shadowed_angst, 01 Jul 2008Being a basic phone, display under daylight is good enough for me.Thanks shadow :)
Two more questions....
when i see the specifications for Nokia 1200 and Nokia 1208, i find that both are having very similar specifications except the "Display Type". Is there any other way in which 1208 is better than 1200? I ask this since N1208 is Rs 400 costlier than N1200.
Which is the latest firmware???

I like it as my family, non-business phone.
Pros: light-weight, flashlight (#1), easy to use
Cons: No volume control outside, small screen (#1), small keypad
it's fine, cool look, and simple functionality, i liked it bcz of it's soft keypad buttons.
I need full User manual for 1208. i downloaded user manual from nokia site but think it's not complete.
shadowed_angst, 10 Jun 2008I think pressing the Right direction key increases volume during call will do the trick. Thanks Dear shadowed :)
Right Key Works Fine.
Thanks And Regard
