I still have one of them. Use it while on offshore trips where cameras are not allowed. Excellent performance, long battery life. Reception and sound clarity as good as my Lumia 920.
Just bought this last Saturday (24 Sep 2005), and cost me US$ 89 (No plan, I'm in Indonesia). Basic phone with great stuff inside. Talking clock for Wake Up alarm!, you'll get annoyed and wake up immediately to shut this phone talking clock. Color and screen just ok, polyphonic great (no mp3 'though). I notice USB connection on the bottom, but dun have the cable data yet. Keypad great, very easy to press and responsive. Screen visibility also great, text easily seen and big enough font (not like 7610, small font for sms....). Overall, BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCKS! Cheap, nice built (look elegant, expensive, and fit in your pocket), easy to use, great battery life (I need 2 hours plus of ringtone+vibrate continous activation to deplete 2 bar of battery before start the 1st charge). Battery is BL-5C, very common for Nokia phone. Much better model compared to 2600 (2600 cheaper by US$ 10).
Remarkable phone! Bought in 2005, I think, and still going strong. Excellent battery life and very tough - has survived several drops without being damaged. Made in Europe; is this a clue why it's so good?!
This phone is actually nearly the same as Nokia 2310 (& maybe some other Nokia's) - even if 2310 & 1600 looks quite different. But u can actually, if u - in some reason want to - exchange the (whole) "electronical cards" between these two phones (if u have bought mobile-screwdrivers). Its nearly only the outside that is different.
2310 has a radio, calender, & that hasnt 1600. But 2310 hasnt a "talking clock" as 1600.
I think that 1600 has a very good design & buttons. (For example - much better than Nokia 2310.)
I wish 1600 was made with a radio & a calender.
(...And without the possibility to change the radio-sound-level & FM-channel with the 4-way-button, when the button is auto-locked. 2310 works like that, unfortunately.)
But. The handsfree to 1600 u mostly have to buy in a second hand shop - if u not find some from friends, or so (that have them deep in some oldbox/drawer, haha). Or, if u are technical competent: change a newer Nokia handsfree - that got the same plug - with a soldering iron.
Nokia 1600 is - still - a quite good phone in this year 2013...even if this phone was made 2005. (I personally dont like Nokia's simplier phones so much nowadays.)
I brought this phone on 20 nov 2006 it is a remarkable phone with a long battery life. . . ! It's keypad is very great and it is a very rough and tough phone
This was my first phone. I bought it in September 30th,2006 and I was very happy and proud. I'd play the soccer and snake game almost every time!. I used it for 3 years with no problem apart from the mouthpiece which I got repaired and it was working again. I sold it in August 2009 with battery still great and bought the Nokia 5130 Xpress music.
Nokia 1600 was first mobile. It was my first mobile and also a coloured phone so i for a week liked it. There is a carrom game and cricket for Indian market. So first some weeks were quite entertaining. Good battery, good reception, good communication. But i wanted more. I was using my fathers CDMA phone 2280 which had a monochrome display but features like wap, so my boredom started. I liked this small handset but it was not dying at all :) so i wont lie that i loved it. There are businessmen who can say they love this phone because of its crystal clear sound and other calling advantages but i was in my youth and i started to move my head around to get hands on a cheaper phone with wap so that i can browse google and send emails download java apps. All above features were not possible in this ultra basic colour handset so i made a mistake of life and bought a 2626 which was a super dull device with buttons like rocks and processor like UNIAC. But overall the phone is still running. I handed it to my brother who currently uses it because of its good voice clarity and back up. :)
it was my first phone with my own number in 2006. steel working to my uncl. ..
This has the best antenna I've ever used on a phone and battery lasts more than a week. For my kind of work, I've to travel and stay at remote villages most times where electricity is very rare to find, let alone charge my phone. I always carry this as a backup phone during my travels because in the end this is the only thing I can trust when I need a phone. Cant say the same for my iPhone 3GS which only lasts a day and a half atmost and has a weaker signal reception or shows no signal at all most times.
whenever I am switching on my phone a black screen appears..n nothing is visible. my phone doesn't show the welcome screen of Nokia whenever I switch on. please help me.........what is the solution to this problem....???
i am using this phone since 6years(97759jgjd65 nokia 1600457) still its performance is best,,really its good....
never had a problem since 2006. used it until 2011 and buy another phone. my friend barrowed it from me for sometime. and her friend also used it for sometime. Now i take my phone back for my girlfriend to use it. it's been 7 years and it still works like the first day.
