I bought this in 2004. Still I’m using this without any problem. More than 650 hours talking time. One new battery, hundreds times drop down... One of the best phones in the world.

Best phone I've ever owned.
Had it for 3.5 years until battery finally gave out (that's a really long time for a battery to last).
Great speaker and user interface. VERY durable-I'm a huge klutz and dropped it all the time without a problem; it just went back to work.
Why oh why did they discontinue it? Have only been able to find used ones out there...
I bought 2 x 3100 and one 3120 (only wap is worse than 3100 and case is a little different)in 2005 (or before) and I am still using them with a great pleasure. I presented 3120 to my father and one of my 3100 was taken by my cousin (she used excessive force on me), the also very happy to use one of these phones. It is reliable, sturdy and everything resistant :) Xpress-on clips are very easy to remove and install, keypad is very efficient and the phone is flawless. Good job Nokia, you shouldn't have lost that magic in that phone.
Note: 3100 and 3120 are made in Germany phones and you can clearly see the quality difference with China, Hungary or Bulgarian made Nokia phones.
Conclusion: 3100 is a German made, No #1 quality, very simple, reliable and sturdy phone. I am still using it :)
My first phone which i used 5years back
Used this phone since 2005, got it from my brother (it's a 3100b, 850/1800 frequency). fortunately my operator is on GSM 1800 network, so it is flawless. it is very sturdy, has dropped it but it only make it a little bit punched at the top part, but it is still usable and made good clarity calls. has java (operamini 3.0), it often says "out of memory", but at least checking gmail and facebook works.
I am now using this phone and Nokia 9500, also a CDMA for cheaper calls to the landline phones (GSMs here are quite expensive to call landline phones).
its software and memory is not too good

good polyponic sound
Best model had by the most convinient menu.
Very often can't get in touch by phone. Maybe I have happened to be a bad model, but this phone isn't good.
Great little phone this one. Bought it new when ir first came out way back in 2003 and still use it to this day, albeit a secondary one for use when abroad! Its so easy to use and the WAP connectivity means its easy to download java games etc. The only couple of letdowns compared to similar phones of its time are that it doesn't have a built in camera (although you can by an accessory one), and no infrared connectivity to send photos/tones etc between phones. Otherwise a very reliable phone which is perfect as a backup.
One word: indestructable! I mean it's really string And i've never had any problems with. I bought a new one because i was bored of this one but it still works( after 5 years,4,5 in use)
I have used this phone for 6 years. Last year dropped phone from 6th floor and still working but not so well as before: I don't see upper half of the screen and sometimes phone loses signal
