The integrated VGA camera makes pictures of average quality. They have a soft color shade, mostly green, which is to a large degree seen in the picture corners. Four modes for picture taking are available: standard photo, portrait, night mode and video. It's always possible to choose from 3 different image qualities. The self- timer at Nokia 3220 is supplemented by light effects. At the camera window there is no mirror this time so you have to manage it in a different way.

In video mode it is possible to make records (with sounds) in length limited only by the size of the shared memory. 3GP records quality is not high but enough for an MMS.
Communication with the world is guaranteed by GPRS class 10, HSCSD and fast data transfer technology EDGE. The phone would do a good job as a hardware modem but connection to a computer is possible only via a data cable. There is no infrared port or Bluetooth available.
If you enjoy mobile surfing on the Internet, you will appreciate that Nokia 3220 includes browser supporting WAP 2.0 and XHTML format.
Browsing with Nokia 3220...
You can find a PC Suite programs pack on the Internet and it's also possible that it will be delivered on a CD with the phone. PC Suite functions are well known from the other Nokia Series 40 phones; it's not different.
I am sure that Nokia 3220 will find many upholders. It's sold for reasonable price and the potential customer will get a phone loaded with functions and with unconvetional design, which he will be able to adapt in an original way. Call for this phone will definitely increase when operators, which don't support EDGE in their networks get it going - then Nokia 3220 will become one of the cheapest phones equipped with this technology.
I don't know if there is anything to reproach to this phone. Just missing Bluetooth or at least infrared port makes me feel bad. First of all, we should keep in mind that this is not a model intended for business users, but a stylish phone designed mainly for entertainment.
It won't be easy for Nokia 3220 competitors. If we consider only the stylish phones with classical construction and forget other Nokia models, Nokia 3220 rivals might be Siemens ST60, Philips 535 or Sagem myX-6.
