I bought N3230 after I had read quite a few bad opinions about it because I really like it very much,it got almost all the features I want. But I was really disappointed and returned it the second day after i bought it.I cannot even make a call because the key pad is totally not function well.I am wondering is it because I am the bad luck one to get this one or most of this model got the same problems.I'm now looking at Panasonic X800,but still prefer N3230's features if it can function well.Any advises?

hey, this phone's camera photos are not that bad if you take them outside.Today I was pleasant surprised when I took two photos (taken at a car showroom)on paper at a professional shop. They look REALLY nice on paper, clear and sharp enough.NICE!

people like everyone even i was disappointed with the quality of mp3 and the slowness of the phione and the constant freezing but now therz a solution to all the problems... just get the latest firmware upgrade 4.0526.2 and all the glitches in this phone are solved... it vibrates for messages in the vibration mode ( which it didnt earlier), get the viking mp3 player 3.5 and the mp3 quality becomes as good as any other phone even from the loudspeaker, the phone's become 10 time faster and has never frozen since the upgrade... so all 3230 users can enjoy coz its the best phone till now with all the features...

48channel is only for midi. If u play a midi file, a total of 48 kind of whatever instrument sound can be played at the same time. Like Mihai said, that's solely for midi. mp3 got nothing to do with 48 channel figure. However, there's really no point putting a 256kb/s mp3 in ur phone. As a matter of fact u will find little difference when playing a 64kb/s @ 22khz mp3 compare to a 128kb/s @ 44khz mp3. Reason being the phone speaker range is only up to 16khz (from what I heard). Therefore anything more than is kind of like wasting ur bandwidth. But if u don't mind using up some space on ur phone, 128kb/s @ 44khz is ok. Definately 256kb/s is no point. That's for playing on a HiFi system!

Nowadays I normally sample my mp3 to 64kb/s @ 22khz mono. And even with these settings, they can sound very nice in phones like SE and motorola. (What can I say, I thought putting down the bit rate and sampling frequency will make my friends' phone sound not as good. But I was wrong. Which means we can probably go at lower bitrate and we r still sort of wasting our bandwidth!??)

48 channel is for midi sounds.I suppose you're reffering to songs as mp3s,therefore 48 channels have nothing to do with mp3 playback.Although I doubt that you'll notice any differences between 64 and 128kb/s if you play 'em on the phone.

According to telco, firmware upgrade will be available in NZ in a month. My question: does the upgrade fix the problem of 'fat' photos on the 3230? If not, I may trade the phone in instead.
