kholio:
EDGE is only a faster version of GPRS. But even for EDGE I think there's a few different level. Recently found out that 3230's EDGE doesn't reach the 200+kbps. I think I saw at Nokia website stating up to about 177kb.... the info given here (gsmarena) not correct i think..?? Whereby 6230i can reach up to 236kb (provided the network can support)

Anyway, just share with u guys what happen to me recently. My phone network (Digi) has this add-on call MobileTV. I recently subscribe to it thinking that I can watch the one and only tv channel that they r offering. To my disappointment I can't access it. Always says not enough bandwidth. Did a check on the FAQ and they stated that certain model which of course include 3230 (and 6630!!) can only do video-on-demand and not live streaming due to phone limitation. Well I wanted to unsubscribe but they kept asking me go try setting at the shop. But I don't have high hope.

So, the only advantage for EDGE is u get to surf faster. For me, charges is the same coz they charge per 10kb data transferred.

jian.com.my:
Where r u from anyway? I'm from Sabah. Things normally cost more here. If u r in KL then the best place is somewhere called Lowyat right? There're so many bluetooth usb adapter around. Price ranging from RM80~RM150 in KK Sabah. I would go for more well-known brand for after sale support. Better if the product got web support. But really up to u.

Bafoman:
If they are really dead pixels, then u can do nothing except go back and try to ask for exchange coz it is a hardware problem. Hard format will not change anything. However, just curious, are u sure they are dead pixels and not dust? Pls double check and don't let the dust full u.

Hello, I have just bought a brand new 3230 as a replacement for my Samsung D500.

I was told that the camra was a 1.3 megapixel but when i opend it i discovered that it was in fact a 1.2 instead.

I have just read the spec on this site and it too tells us that it is 1.3.

What is it? I hope it is a 1.3 as my Samsung was and i use the camara.

Pete

hey Tuumaz! u've got 2 practically live wif the sound quality..it is pretty acceptable ONCE u get used to it..just dun put 2 much hope on the mp3 sound quality..(IT'S A MONO SPEAKER!!)i'm owning a nokia 3230 2..i could reduce interference sounds by lowering the bitrates of mp3's until 31 kbps..maybe in the future (hopefully) someone could help find better ways 2 circumnavigate this sound quality problem..

hey kholio ! basically, EDGE is an acronym for Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution (Enhanced GPRS). Its also the precursor to 3G as EDGE is 2G or 2.5G. Meaning it provides Enhanced GPRS at max speeds of 386kbps while standard GPRS( which is 1G) is at 114 Kbps. (note: max speeds are achievable data transfer rates and not the actual rates)

So far the most useful programs which I think is a must have is the following:

1. Photorite v5.2.0
* Nice Photo program
2. FExplorer 1.13
* A must have file manager/browser.
3. Resco Photo Viewer
* Although photorite can provide most of the need like photo viewing and slide show apart from taking photo, I installed this program becoz I can resize image and also crop image to custom size using this program. Definately must have.
4. SmartMovie 2.73
* What else, watch movies of course
5. AppMan
* It an application manager. Most useful function is it can show u if there's any previously installed program rubbish left-over files.
6. AutoLock
* I think this may be the 1st program I install when I get this phone in order to make my phone do autolock at a present delay.

Er.. well, the other program is not really that important to me.... more to come i think. If u ask me about games i probably can list out top 10 or even top 20 hahaha. Currently I am having almost 40 games excluding the original 3. All super nice one.

Aagah:
Hey pal I send u a private message at that forum just to let u know which one is me. HaHa. Anyway, about the SmartCom, did u install the version 1.02? I haven't try that. Mine is version 1.01. What u said sound really weird. But I want to check with u something. Did u activate it? Coz if u didn't activate it, it won't run and definately won't standby. Select the activate (and it'll change to Deactivate & also red button with white cross) Try again and see. Sorry I can't help much coz I'm not really really expert. BTW my firmware is v3.0510.0ch 05-03-05 (ch means chinese support)

My 5 would be: (in order of usage)
1.Photorite V2.0
2.SmartCom V1.0
3.SMS Counter V1.0
4.Alarm Manager V1.0
5.SMS-Timer
6.Egg Clock
7.Handy Photosafe V1.0

Not necessary we should restrict ourselves to 5, we can post the favourite softwares we use in our day to day usage... Thank you.
