hi all! wondering if u r facing these problems or have solutions to them:
1) when receiving files via bluetooth, can we transfer straight to external memory rather than internal? I'm facing problems when receiving files which are more than the internal memory (ie 6 MB)
2) read from somewhere u can adjust the thumbnails in the contact list. how do u do that?!?
3) any place to check for newest firmware?
4) any good software for viewing pictures full screen or 'sideways' landscape orientation?

thanx!

i have the Nokia 3230. Everything is fine except that when the phone has a few messages in the inbox, the messaging and retriving and accessing them becomes a lil' slow. Please let me know if it happens on all the phones in the 3230 series. Thankyou.

I've been using Kingmax 512mb non-dual-voltage memory card for about 3 weeks. So far it never give me problem.

I also agree that there won't be power saving using dual-voltage on 3230 because I don't think 3230 is running it's memory at the 1.8V. Correct me if I'm wrong, dual-voltage memory can be used for all phone but phone running at the lower voltage like 6630 can't take normal memory. There's only dual-voltage memory, not dual-voltage phone. That's why 6630 can't take the normal memory.

The only advantage I see getting dual-voltage memory is compatibility when u want to share ur memory card with friend having phones like 6630 or for u to use back the memory when u upgrade ur phone in the future. (I suppose 6680 and N70 use that)

Mr. X,
I'm using a non-dual voltage RS MMC and doesn't find any problem. Transcend 256MB. I personally don't agree about power consumption being much faster on a non-dual voltage than the dual voltage. Voltage ratings are not the only reference to power consumptions.

From what I know, the backlight consumes even bigger than the MMC. The network signal also contributes to fast power drain, since your phone continuously page the system networks specially if there's a weak or no signal at all.

to ppl who use RS-MMC 512mb/256mb...non dual voltage one...anybody of u guys face problem by using it?..is it use more battery power compared to the original one?. iam about to buy one..it worth using MMCmobile or not coz MMCmobile use low power and operate faster.

Well I never feel that 3230 is slow compare to all the previous 60 series phones. U can't compare 6630 or 6680 of course coz they have 200Mhz+ processor running symbian 8.

Taking photo is kind of slow indeed due to the 1.2Meg pixel resolution I think. It take more time so save the photo at higher resolution. If u try taking standard VGA 640x480 photo, it's fast! (oh I'm using PhotoRite SP) What a pity standard Nokia camera software doesn't allow that. And they produce distorted pic too. Shame on Nokia.

The only problem with this fone is its mono mp3 player. You can differentiate between mono & stereo when you hear it. Mono is like music playing just for the sake of it, sounds like there's music being played in some corner. In stereo you get the surround effect & you'll feel the beats, which you won't get in mono. Everything else about this fone is great. A big plus is that it has EDGE which allows you to watch TV clips on it. The memory can always be increased. All in all a good fone if you're not too bothered about the mono thing & the sound quality.

9eftfaå : regarding 1.3 camera and 1 camera, it wouldn't make much of a difference, instead check on the response time... in my case (6600) i compared with 6230, both same resolution camera, but 6230 has a very good and better camera.... and regarding irda, when u have bluetooth, irda comes no-way near... so u can forget it, i have never used the irda port on my 6600... wonder if it works... :-)

but pple, tell me, is 3230 o/p mono like 6600??? or is o/p stereo? if it is mono, it's a big letdown. Also my 6600 is 16k mono, what's in case of 3230?

jeffrinder:
I think I have to disagree with you. 3230 sound is lousy. That's a fact. If got chance try put the same song in 6230, 6630 or motorola E398 and u'll know the difference. I think 6630 and E398 play stereo sound too. Being said this, the 3 phones I mentioned is not even the top music quality phone also. I mentioned it becoz I heard it with my own ears.

Personally I am not happy with 3230 sound, apart from the sound quality is lousy, it's far too soft...i.e. not loud enough, unless u put it to full volume, but by then the sound will be distorted already.

When it come to midi tone, Nokia 3220, a 16 polyphonic phone, plays much better and much louder too. I think some of the new low end nokia phone (3000 series), some only a 4 polyphonic phone also play very nice loud midi tone too. So what's the point of having 48 poly when all the instruments sound so poor. That's a question I would like to ask Nokia actually.

Anyway, there are some good things on 3230 that makes me keep it. After all, the main purpose of the phone is not to play mp3.
