hey guys i wanted to know your opinion on which phone to get. the nokia 5230(this phone), or the nokia 5800(the older version).i ask because i like the new one very much but the older one seems better, its got 2 cameras(back/front), wifi also, camera:3.7mp and flash/auto focus.the new one has none of them but instead has 3g and stuff like that. so any help please?
Bought this phone yesterday for Rs.7500/- now i m in need of office... anyone with links for quickoffice, adobe reader, and winzip for this model... found various applications but all of them giving certificate error... any way to fix that? already tried changing the date of the phone that did not work... plz help!!!
3 months later. This phone is o.k. It does do things well. But there is a major problem with the case work. You would think such a large company like Nokia could sort this out. The quality of the case work is a shocker, and I really mean SHOCKER! That back panel holding the the battery in is a joke. The clips that are used to hold it on to the body are sooooooo flimsy. Then there is the over all design/engineering of the main body. Which (as far as I can see) is the main cause of it all. It seems as though the battery is sitting too high in the main case, so when that hopeless back cover clicks on, it is under a lot of pressure to stay down properly. You may not see this when it's sitting on the shelf in a shop as it won't get used a lot. But after you get it home and the whole case work frees up a bit, things will start to fall apart(literally). If you buy the phone and never take that back cover off for the life of it, you might not have a problem. But if your like me and want two batteries, one charging while the other is in use, then this issue will become a major problem for you.
There may be a way around this by sanding the inside of the cover to remove those small ridges that run along the inside and play around with the battery housing, but you shouldn't have to do this on a new phone, that's just crazy.
all other phones you mentioned(C5, e52, e51, n96) dont have touchscreen....so if you are going to use the phone for web browsing you must choose Nokia 5230....the scrolling, moving, pointing and clicking is very easy and fun, and fast....
arrange your priorities, i mean what you really want from the phone, what are the things you really need...
i bought Nokia 5230 because it meets all my needs...large 3.2" touchscreen for easy scrolling and surfing, 3G for fast web browsing, free GPS with A-GPS, 30 fps video shooting(wow!!!), accelerometer, software QWERTY keyboard for easy messaging and typing, radio, MP3, 3.5 mm jack, handwriting recogntiton(i dont really use it but its fun)...so many features for such a low price...the only minus of this phone is the lack of led or xenon flash for the camera but i dont mind because i have a second phone with 3.2 mp camera and xenon flash(SE K800)....so you choose!!!...
