to indieover, I'm gonna send you the Free INternet settings for 5230 (which walkman's phone can't handle Hahahahahahaha) via email. Enjoy free browsing and downloading with 3.5G connection in Smart.
walkman, 27 May 2010oh in case you dont know 5230 is not an xpress music phone thats why it sounds DULL even if yo... moreDon't be so ignorant mate.. just because this phone doesn't have the Xpress label doesn't make it a bad music phone. It is the insides that count. In case you are not aware, this phone uses the same toshiba DAC33 audio processor as the 5800. It does come with the same amplifier as the 5800 and it is also better tuned than 5800. Just check the audio test results of 5230 for proof. Its frequency response is almost flat throughout the entire audible range. The only other phone that manages to out perform is the iphone 3gs. It doesn't have the xpress music label because it doesn't come with expensive music accessories in order to bring the cost down. I do own a philips SHE9800. In case you are not aware, it is a premium fine tuned earphone with advanced acoustics. It is rated as the earphone with one of the best sound stages by audiophiles. It has a sound signature similar to full sized cans or headphones. Compared to my 5233 and my philips SHE9800, your expensive 5800 with its stock overhyped earphones are no match. Even the PMX200 that comes with it has a hard time catching up. I do agree that 5800 sounds a bit warm with EQ set to flat but 5230 is the more natural sounding among the two and the one with the better audio reproduction. You are just jealous because my 5233 is almost as good as your 5800. Apart from a few premium features and a bit of cosmetic changes, the 5230/5233 is in every way a 5800.
walkman, 27 May 2010oh in case you dont know 5230 is not an xpress music phone thats why it sounds DULL even if yo... moreit is the headphone that is not good, use a different good headlhone, you will feel like you are in a theater or cinema hall.
oh in case you dont know 5230 is not an xpress music phone thats why it sounds DULL even if you connect it to your components.

I purchased the Nokia 5230 2 months ago and last week I woke up and the screen was blank, the mobile company i bought it from sent it away and said it was water damage and is not covered under warranty, no water got near the phone it just stopped working, has anyone else had this problem?
[deleted post]Yes I can very well understand dear. The EP635 costs around 1000-1200 and the philips SHE9800 costs around 2500rs. So both are out of your league I guess. 500rs is too small a budget and very few good earphones ae available in this price range. In ear earphones are a no go as the cheapest one starts around 900 range. The only good one I can recommend in this price range is the creative EP630. It costs around 900rs but you can get it for as low as 700rs. It is a bang for buck piece of equipment. Not the most natural sounding one but you will like it anyway. It's got lot's of bass and good treble. For an average listener, thre ain't nothing better at this price. In addition, it is also one of the cheapest in ear earphones.
I'd suggest you convince your daddy to extend the budget a lil bit and get the EP630. I live in Kerala so I can't really recommend any stores in mumbai. I order all my earphones and other stuff from trusted sellers in ebay.in.
Beat, 26 May 2010Hello mate why u didn't reply me ? I want 2 ask that should i hack my 5233? I m not an expert ... moreSorry mate.. i must have missed that... Ye s hacking your phone is not recommended as it might cause some unexpected problems and software stability issues. It also voids warranty. But the safer alternative will be to download the free signer applicaion and install it on your phone. This way, all unsigned apps can be self signed within the phone itself.
SidewindeR, 26 May 2010Yes both ahve similar sound signatures as botn share the same audio hardware. My point is that... moreHello mate why u didn't reply me ? Rk, 26 May 2010Hello,plz clear.is sound quality of 5233 better than 5230Yes both ahve similar sound signatures as botn share the same audio hardware. My point is that if your preference is music over other stuff like 3G and GPS, it is wise to buy 5233 instead of 5230 and save the rest of the money to buy a good pair of earphones as everyone knows that the stock earphones are rubbish. And 5233 actually looks more expensive with its smoky grey casing with metallic paint finish. 5233 also comes with additional 2 back panels each having its own stylus.
I don't use GPS or 3G services as neither of them have any practical day to day usage for me. I still use EDGE for my needs as it is the cheapest and the most reliable connectivity option here in my city. So it's upto you to decide. If oyu want an all in one package, 5230 is the option for you but if media and entertainment is your only preference, then why spend more money on something you won't be using quite often. I'd rather invest that money on a good pair of earphones.

i don't think there is free internet in Smart Philippines. cause pinoy has not even replied our questions. anyways, i got already my problem solved. my deleted message icon is already back in the menu. i asked the assistance of Nokia Philippines by phone.
Rajesh, 26 May 2010If I use Creative EP635 with my Nokia 5233, how much difference it'll make to the audio output... moreIt makes a lot of difference compared to the stock earphones. You see the quality of the music is not just limited by the phone. It's limited by the quality of the earphones that you use. Witn creative, you'll get a pretty good music player that can rival most pmp. If you really want to get something sounding quite close to audiophile quality, just buy a pair of philips she9800 premium earphones. The audio quality is that good. If music seems to be your main priority, i'd suggest you buy a 5233 instead of 5230 and invest the money saved on a better pairf earphones.
wallman, 26 May 2010does it have a crystal clear sound?yes quality is good but quantity is very low
