hey all of u listen, nokia 5233 has gps reciver which runs only when u connect gprs on phone. The setting of gps is something diffucult but I tried and it works. So donot say again that nokia 5233 has no gps.the 5230 has a-gps means it works without gprs connection.Thanks.
t-mobile informed me today that there are 2 versions of this phone. The one I have from New Egg will not run 3g as it is made for ATT. Does anyone have this experience
And since you budget is 8000, you can go for the slightly better 5230 which has 3G and A-GPS. So that would mean better connectivity and greater speeds for browsing and other applications. Performance wise, ther isn't much distinction between the two as both have simialrly speced hardware and the only difference between them being 3G and GPS.
beat, 10 May 2010help me ! i m going 2 buy a new mobile but i m confused btwn nokia 5233 and samsung corby ....... moreWell i don't know much about the browser of corby but one thing I can tell you is that this phone sports quite a capable browser with flash support for bot flash content as well as flash videos. The music quality is just awesome and i seriously doubt corby could match up with this. And to top it all off it's a smart phone capable of multi tasking.
This leaves no room for any regrets what so ever. Any way you look, it's better than any corby you take. Just to fair things up, the high end corby pro is also a resistive touch screen phone with just half the screen resolution.
If music and web browsing is you main preference, you can buy this with confidence. As a 5233 user myself, i use my phone regularly now a days as it gives almost the same fell as browsing via a pc. And the flash support on youtube means I can play youtube videos from the page itself just like on a desktop browser. And you can easily access web pages of 3mb or more in size without any memory issues.
Since this is a symbian smartphone, there are also a bunch of alternatives like opera mobile and skyfire browsers which works equaliiy as well.
help me ! i m going 2 buy a new mobile but i m confused btwn nokia 5233 and samsung corby .....
my preference is a mobile with good music and great web browsing ( youtube ,and full browser which can open all web pages and never shows a msg "memory full " in opening big web pages )
my main preference is web , so plz help me should i go 4 5233 or corby or any other phone .
my budget is 8000 rs.

Akash from nepal, 10 May 2010No usb cable in the box lolYeah... You were unlucky just like me. Just last month i bought another one for my brother. It was a newer stock and to my surprise, there was a data cable included in the box though a very short one. It is included in the newer stock as per request by the customers. I think you have got the older stock. All newer shipments come with a small data cable as well. Don't know for sure how the recent drop in price will affect the package contents.
Hi, please could someone tell me how to mxit on this phone, cause I dont have a keypad on my touch screen???
hi i m from china wanted to know how to upgrade my 5230 to newest firmware ...synced my mobile to ovi suite but it shows no firmware updates available ....plssssssssssss help need to upgrade my phone
rui, 10 May 2010yeah hes the guy to ask. yow you gave me lots of info im going to buy this ph this coming satu... moreThanks for your appreciation mate....
For me 5233 has been the best choice for me. Though it lacks 3g and gps, i don't miss those features as i don't find much use for both. But those planning on using these features might reconsider and pay that little extra to get the 5230. For me the neat thing is that i have no issues with my phone from the time i bought it. Everything works just fine out of the box. Well like everyone here complains there ain't any issues with the software part. It's much stable than it's predecessors. 5233 is indeed a tried and tested model. Almost every app that works on 5800 works flawlessly on this model too. The audio quality is also at par with 5800. So you don't have to make compromises here though you are only paying half as much. The neatest thing is that s60v3 apps are also compatable with this platform. So all n73 and n95 apps work without any fuss.
Bought a new 5230 last week. got updated to the latest 20..... version firmware. Everything works fine including ovi maps. but unable to start google maps after downloading and installing the application. The start up screeen only shows and it hangs there. If we see the connection manager we can see that it has downloaded some small amount of data via 3g/edge and then it hangs there. Anybody has installed google maps in 5230 with latest firmware?
really good to carry and work it is a complete package with 3g enabled , 3.2'' screen , symbian os
