I don't understand why people are buying the clearly inferior 5233 or whatever it's called. The thing doesn't have GPS and what's even worse, it doesn't have 3G! My God y'all must have a torrid time downloading stuff over stone age GPRS.
YasseR, 12 Feb 2010Hello to all my friends out there, hope my review and suggestions will help you in some way or... moreVideo recording a 11/10? Give me a break. A lot of Sammys in the mid range segment can capture better videos.
The resistive tech is like 10 years old. The Corby has a capacitive screen.
If you think S60v5 is "so new" and fun, you're sorely mistaken. Time to check out Android, iPhone and the likes.
had ths for a while gr8 phone compared its camera with tht of nokia 5800 and u wont belive me it kicks ass of 5800 on the screen result dont belive me try yr self. and as for sound quality is good.
Tarun, 12 Feb 2010Hey Guyz This is not the thread for Nokia 5233, so plz dont discuss that here. I am very... moreDnt b so conservativ n demandin coz the 5233 has won the hearts of many indians. The 5230 even though it has 3g n gps it costs 1k mre than 5233 which many people cnt afford u knw.So nokia has bought out the 5233 which offers.Almst all the features wat a multimedia phon is supposed to offer.Tel me which othr brand comes with a symbian os for less than 10k n this 1 costs just 7k.So i think thers no point in blaming nokia coz in india 3g n gps is nt popular n 80% people dnt require it...NOKIA ROCKS.
Brilliant Phone, awesome experience. Got it for Rs.8000 in Delh at Vikas Marg. Will give it 9/10
Tarun, 12 Feb 2010Hey Guyz This is not the thread for Nokia 5233, so plz dont discuss that here. I am very... moreYour voice here doesnt matter for Nokia in any way, so relax. Nobody from the finnish producer is reading this. And mainly, the problem with 5230 is that it is very high requested by customers in Europe. So in my European country, you can barely find it avaailable in 2-3 stores out of a hundred. But at least the black one has arrived for quite some time, not only the white.
i mean im sorry gsmrena but i have to say that when you guys put in the review in the man disadvantes it should have wifi, look how much you pay is how much you get and lets not forget nokia basicly made this phone as a little brother of the 5800, people said that they like the 5800 but its queit pricy so nokia made this one to the majority oh it being cheap and and something the people want, but if people want this to have wifi then what will be the differece of this and the 5800, so if some wants wifi in this phone they should pay that extra bit and get the 5800!
This is not the thread for Nokia 5233, so plz dont discuss that here.
I am very annoyed at Nokia for not bringing in the next lot of 5230 in the India Markets.
If they think that I will buy a 5233 instead, I want NOKIA People to Know that I will not, rather I will then go for a Corby or Star...
I think this is just a move by Nokia to push the sales of 5233.
I am sure many people around here share that view.
Comment People. Raise the Voice here. It matters
Hi guyz, does this phone suffer any queks and how is the build quality??

Hello to all my friends out there, hope my review and suggestions will help you in some way or the other. To begin with let me first inform you that its been exactly 1 week since I bought the Nokia 5233 Xpress Music, and I must say i'm quite satisfied but after consoling me a little. I was new to the touchscreen concept as this is my first touch device. Like everyone else i too had my fears but not anymore. The first and the biggest fear I had was about texting, which i misconstrue that it might be a way too tedious to type on a touchscreen device. But contradicting to my fear the messaging part was the coolest and most easiest thing that I found in this device. Gsmarena gives you a total review of its pros & cons of this mobile. So let me skip all that and come straight to the hands on experience part of my review:
CAMERA: Not The Best In Class nowhere near the word Best but let me say a little less than average.
VIDEO: JUST EXCELLENT. I'd rate it 11/10
(some of you might be dubious on this as to how come the video can excel when cam is so low, to which i answer that the recording is done at VGA 30fps and it really makes a hell lot of difference. There are also other fones which do it in QVGA and that is even more better i'd agree).
SOUND: Volume is neither too low nor much loud. I'd call it DECENT. Remember you've only got 1 speaker, how much cud u expect.
RAM MEMORY KEEP RUNNING SHORT. Applications automatically keeps shutting down due to low memory. But this can be ruled out if you've got "Ramblow" installed. Its a software that will clean ur Ram to boost memory.
SUNLIGHT LEGIBILITY IS GRUESOME. You'll really suffer bad if u are out there in sun and got a call. You'll really wont be able to make out whose calling you, yes its that bad.
BATTERY: Not powerful but still has a good back up. Depends upon ur usage. Just imagine 16million colors and 3.2" screen, come on guys hav some mercy. But i'd rate it 7/10
Few bugs like volume rocker fails to zoom in the photos and keypad goes numb failing to give the vibe effect but then all these minor issue can be fixed after a restart. But kind of irritating you see cause it happens often.
THE BEST THING ABOUT IT IS THE USER INTERFACE AND TOUCHSCREEN USABILITY. I'm really loving it cause it so new to use and fun.
People who can have an attitude of overlooking minor issues can go for this beauty. After all the price is so catchy that you'll literally dream of having one in your hand. Beware camera lovers....
Thats all for now. Bye!
And yes, music too is really good to hear on headphones. Okay bye ;-)

shekhar, 12 Feb 2010Plz plz can anyone tell me what is the use of gps. i wanted n5230 for gps but stores here are ... moreGPS is an aid for navigating from one place to another. Usually we do this with paper maps by keeping in mind where we actually we are on the map. On Nokia 5230 you can use GPS to do the same. The phone shows you the map as well your almost correction location. There is also a mode where it guides you to reach a specified destination by telling when to take a turn and in which direction. The maps keep updating while you drive/walk. It also recalculate new route if you take a turn which was not suggested by it.
I hope to use it to navigate around Delhi. Till now by trusted Eicher map or my wife helped me. But now when she is not with me on trip I will turn to 5230 to guide me :-)
