Tarun, 07 Feb 2010Hey Guyz The guyz at Nokia PD in Noida,India said that 5230 has been put out of production ... moreThere are not faults or any problems with 5230!!! 5230 is avilable everywere and 5233 Is avilable just in india no were else in the world! ppl must understand that so please dont confuse ppl! ok? 5233 is actualy 5230 for india! becouse ppl there dont use 3g too much and its also cheaper becouse it doesnt have 3g!! so please guys stop talking about 5230 have some bugs or faults! nokia will sell 5233 just in india and 5230 stay everywere where it is avilable now!
The guyz at Nokia PD in Noida,India said that 5230 has been put out of production by Nokia. Then they said that only one lot of 5230 came and there is no news on the 5230's future stock lots.
Some other shop told me that 5230 was not working for Hutch and Idea Networks , which sounds absurd to me but the fact is that Nokia 5230 is not available in the market for the time being. This could be due to a fault in 5230's current lot or they are holding the stocks back to push 5233 sales.
The advertisements of 5230 are still on and that suggests that 5230 is going to come back, atleast i hope that.
Anyone amongst all of you who are using 5230 can show some light on the n/w portability or 5230 and tech flaws, if any. We all who are planning on buying 5230 will really appreciate your effort and time.

The browser is slow, very slow compared to my last phone.
The kinetic scrolling ? What kinetic scrolling. This phone would not recognize kinetic scrolling if it was hit with a 40 ton truck.
Otherwise it is fine.
Camera, better than I expected.
Sound is superb.
GPS about average. But it works!
oh i forgot to tell the down part of my experience. i hate the 2mp camera and worst their is no flash. and when transfering data through bluet0oth is a hassle, how can i save it directly to the mem0rycard? 0ne m0re thing, 0nly 4 shortcut ic0ns are available in h0mescreen below.

Anonymous, 01 Jan 19705530 XpressMusic and 5230 are basically a cheaper versions of 5800. Their specs have been reduced to suit individual needs. If we compare the two :
5530 has a 3.15 MP cam while 5230 has 2 Mp.
5530 has Wi-Fi (no 3G) for internet access whereas 5230 has 3G (no Wi-Fi)
5230 has GPS with free lifetime voice navigation. No GPS for 5530.
5530 is smaller more pocketable, whereas 5230 has a larger screen (3.2"). 5530 has 2.9" screen.
5530 has stereo speakers. 5230 has mono.
This more or less covered all the differences. Rest all is same, apart from battery which is somewhat better for 5230, but that depends on individual use.
You can choose which one do you want.

Hey nokia fan, in general the sound out of this phone is brilliant i think. listening through the headphones nokia provides will make it sound terrible, and i mean terrible, but you just need to use another good set of 3.5mm headphones and it works perfectly. I've had this phones for a few weeks now and i love it, its got a nice screen, good sound and awesome navigation. My only criticism is the lack of wifi but if thats not a big deal for you i would definately recommend this phone.
i was very much interested in this phone n i definitely want to buy it. But some reviews here show tht d sound quality is not good plz answer me this question so tht i can make up my mind. I am totally confused to buy this phone or not. I dont bother abt listening via headset but d sound quality shuld b good in phone. plzzz help me out.
srk, 06 Feb 2010hey SR u didnt reply to my question anyone who know how to use maps in N5233 give me the instr... moreWell you have said that there is an "inbuilt maps application in N5233". So run the application, it'll show you the map. You can use it like any other map. Since 5233 doesn't has GPS the map will not show you your current location but you can search for your location and surrounding places. Its an e-map, alright.
Nokia has been adding Ovi maps into its other non-GPS phones. Like 6303. You can read about 6303's use of Ovi maps here : http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_6303_classic-review-359p8.php
So basically you can browse the maps, look up addresses, plan routes (without voice guided navigation). You can also save locations in the Favorites section.
Ovi Maps offers straightforward route planning. Having entered a start point and a destination, the application will plan your route with easy-to-follow directions to where you're heading. You have to do this by looking at the screen, no voice guided navigation since the phone doesn't know youe exact location as GPS is not there.
But if you pair the phone with a Bluetooth GPS unit, it turns into a full-fledged navigation decice and probably will get turn by turn VOICE navigation as well but you have to wait for Nokia's announcement for 5233 on their site or you can get in touch with them, whether you can install the maps meant for 5230 on your 5233.
Hope this helps, mate
