it all depends upon what you want in your handset. Nokia 5230 offers you the same Touch experience as Nokia 5800. Nokia 5800 is an handset priced at higher price range(if you are on Budget go for 5230) whereas Nokia 5230 and Samsung star are entry level touch phones.
But samsung star has two versions basic and the wifi one. If you compare both of these versions only wifi feature of the latter is better than Nokia 5230. Samsung Star has widgets whereas Nokia 5230 doesnt have them. But then samsung star(basic as well as wifi one) isnt an smartphone like Nokia 5230.

Hope this helps if not read the older comments(which has mentioned in detail) for more pros and cons..

Please read the comments of users before u comment. I know my 5230 has an stylus slot in its back cover. Apart for Plectrum stylus that they have provided.
What do you expect to get at 8000 RS/- in many Indian Cities(except Mumbai) even its competitors are lacking the features and durability this mobile has.
Internet features are cool on this handset..Looks are really good only negative aspect i saw was The screen is only not visible during the day(due to gloss effect of the screen), Speaker is below average(but then i dont use it to entertain any1 else).
Price is really cool aspect of it too(Rs8000-9000 INR)not providing memory card is only a small flaw in their plan.
can someone say if we can install new games in nokia 5230??..nd where to find them...also is there any document viewer in this phone..??

Fil, 15 Jan 2010Given the choice and money, i would always prefer 5800 (which is a complete phone) over 5230 (... more5230 runs Symbian. you can install a pdf reader easily, so stop complaining that the phone doesnt have one integrated.
parag, 15 Jan 2010pls tell me which is a better choice between 5800, 5230, samsung star wifi, corby plus, corby ... more5800 is bit of everything.. but nothing is perfect.. but with firmware updates dont know how's it gonna get
5230 is what for those who like 5800's style but cannot afford it.. it almost does everything that 5800 does but in low end
samsung star is basic touch screen mobile has only bluetooth and edge connectivity.. nothing else to boast of
Samsung Corby Pro is samsung's reply to 5800 in a better way.. with Qwerty keypad.. packs everything 3g,wifi,gps and all.. but 3rd party softwares are not widely available
Samsung Corby Plus is for heavy texters...
so go on and select one from these.. all are good.. it's your call
Rajesh, 15 Jan 2010I want suggestion of 5230 oweners.should i buy this phone. No amount of suggestions is going to satisfy you. So stop bring this question. Go to the nearest retailer and get a hand on experience yourself.
All the talk about pdf documents foot you people get anything. This phone is a Symbian S60 smart phone you can INSTALL a document reader.
And finally about 5800 being better phone it is so obvious. But you have to say atleast 5000 more for it. If you prefer it, go for it. And also go to the 5800 forum and stop posting here.
I would also like to bed that 5230 has a few things better than 5800 as 5230 is released an year later than 5800 and the development made by Nokia has gone into it. Like better touch screen sensitivity, better mp3 quality (not volume) and not to mention it has a faster processor on board.
Those who can afford 5800 can in for it, for others 5230 is the best bet.
parag, 15 Jan 2010pls tell me which is a better choice between 5800, 5230, samsung star wifi, corby plus, corby ... more-5800 : still expensive but has all features required in a smartphone .
-5230 : inexpensive clone of 5800 without wifi. speaker volume below average . but a good deal.
-corby plus : keypad and small screen not very comfortable.
-corby pro : very bulky at 135gms . small screen.
-star wifi : the best non-smartphone touchscreen money can buy . well priced . gud ringer . qwerty keybrd . light weight . xcellent music.
pls tell me which is a better choice between 5800, 5230, samsung star wifi, corby plus, corby pro. long list but pls guide. i m ready 2 bear little more cost but want good features. As i dont take mobiles more often.
Given the choice and money, i would always prefer 5800 (which is a complete phone) over 5230 (no wi-fi, no document viewer, mono speaker)and 5530 (no 3g, small screen).
5230 and 5530 aren't complete phone and they will always let you down in one way or the other.
Document viewer is an essential part of any smart-phone these days and it's pity that 5230 don't have it.
What's the use of the smart-phone with huge screen if it does not comes with the document viewer?
Come what may, 5800 will always be better than these clones(5230 and 5530). Now with the latest v40 firmware update, 5800 has become unbeatable.
