Nikhil, 08 Jan 2010I have myself checked it today at 2 Nokia dealers in Mumbai.Good. Thank You for sharing it with us.
Actually I'm confused between Nokia 5230 and LG Arena.
The problem is that I can afford the Arena but I don't want to make a mistake. Its not a smart phone and that's a big problem.
5230 costs half that of Arena and it has its positives. Excellent camera with flash, slo motion video recording.Capacitive Screen. Screen size of both devices are also similar. TV-out, VideoCall, Wi-Fi.
But its not a smart phone.
What adds to the problem is that I'm about to get an iPod Touch. There are things that it can't do though.
So I'm wondering a smart phone with wide screen and no video call & Wi-Fi or shell out more money for Arena.
Can anybody solve my dilemma???
Anonymous, 08 Jan 2010How credible is your information?I have myself checked it today at 2 Nokia dealers in Mumbai.
Nokia 5230 available at Nokia priority dealers in Rs 9000/-INR with 400 rs getting reduced in 1st week..wow..will wait for 1 more week then.
The sales Package now has Phone with Stylus(normal stylus), Battery Bl-5j(1320 mAh), Headphones WH-102/HS-125, Charger AC-8, User Guide, Plectrum (Stylus), 10 track Music voucher(free songs from Nokia ovi store) and priority dealers selling memory card, Data Cable, Pouch, Scratch Guard separately...hope this helps people.
my frind told me that when u restart the phone it does not access memory card u have to remove it and then put it back again to access it is it right?
shiva, 08 Jan 2010star Wi-Fi is betterSamsung Star is an delicate phone...its not worth the price to have a phone that cracks on single fall(even after falling on a carpeted floor from 3 feet)..Phone this expensive should be atleast a bit durable and Nokia 5230 is durable its so called bulkiness gives it protection.
tell me the current price of nokia 5230 in chennai i am going to buy within 2 days
jimmy, 08 Jan 2010hi friends can sum1 which is the best phone 5800 or 5230.. i am not a fan of photography camer... moreNokia 5800 and 5230 ar necessarily the same device with minor differences.
Both have the same OS with no difference in software what so ever.
Here's the hardware diferences.
5800 better :
1. Camera - Not only in mega pixels 5800's camera also has integrated twin LED flash and Carl Zeiss optics.
2. Wi-Fi - 5800 has an Wi-Fi reciever which will help you get access to the internet over WLAN network.
3. 5800 has 81 MB of internal memory against 5230's 70 MB. Its insignificant but a difference.
5230 better :
1. CPU - It has a 434 MHz processor while 5800 has a 369 MHz processor. So 5230 is faster.
2. Price - 5230 is cheaper.Probably insignificant in your case but nonetheless its an important factor.
3. Also, 5230 is a device released by Nokia an year after 5800 so the touchscreen sensitivity developments must have gone into it but these are not a big issue in 5800.
Samsung c3510 corby pop is going to be everyone hands mobile price is only $150 because of its touchwiz

Satya, 08 Jan 2010Hey guys, i bought Star wifi a week back, i was actually waiting for 5230 for the past few mon... moreI've said it before and I'm gonna say it again.
"No phone is better than the other". It all depend on what is that you want from a phone.
If you want one touch access through widgets go for Samsung Star WiFi. If you want a smart phone with software support go for Nokia 5230.
If you want Wifi go for Star Wifi. If you want 3G with GPS go for Nokia 5230.
If you want a smaller and slimmer phone go for Star WiFi. If you want a phone with a bigger screen, 16:9 aspect ratio and excellent resolution go for Nokia 5230.
Also Star WiFi has a 3.15 MPx camera while Nokia 5230 records better video at VGA resolution (which by the way is the broadcast resolution of most Satellite channels).
And Star 3G has a lesser power battery while Nokia 5230 is little heavier.
If you're a Nokia die hard fan go for Nokia 5230. If you have had enough of Nokia and want to try out other manufacturer/brand go for Samsung or LG etc.
Personally I completely agree with the GSMArena review that a non smart-phone "can't beat the level of versatility a smartphone can offer".
Enough said, make up your own mind...
