I have flashed my 5233 to C6 fw just to add a 3G option to my slow websurfing 5233 as they had similarities in cpu, ram etc as i proclaim they are indeed the same. i might as well put up a sliding qwerty keypad in the near future. Hello to the weird people of india

Warranty will not be void by flashing with CFW, however that decision rests with nokia care of your area. So to be on the safer side just flash your phone with original firmware before taking it to nokia care.

Question: why do we flashed our phone?
Answer: to enhance the performance, emproved speed, better sound and camera, because i hate the 5233 somehow i feel like i am using C6 and i pretend that im using it! Its the only option to get rid of this rubbish 5233, since i lack the money to buy a better handset like 5800, C6 and X6

No you don't have to hard reset your phone. Hard resetting will restore factory settings and everything in your phone memory would be wiped clean.

Shane, 21 Oct 2010@sbdevilmind and @utk thanx a lot for all d info ull give..really helpful..well yes i was a 5... moreYes of course we will definitely help you. My phone is less than a month old and I flashed my phone with a custom firmware after 3 days of purchase.

Flashing S60 is almost same as S40. So you won't be facing any difficulties in that. I'm giving you the procedure (imp steps as you already know how to flash) for flashing your phone with a custom firmware. It's 100% safe to flash your phone with a custom firmware(CFW). Custom firmwares also come with hundreds of tweaks(OK maybe not hundreds) and have better UI speed and KS.

The custom firmware we(ie me, SB and sidewinder) recommend is called Revenge^6. Download link for Revenge^6 can be found from google by searching "Revenge^6 for Nokia 5233".
Download the Speed Type 2 effects Variants:
8 HS No CPU mod or 8 HS CPU mod.
Download 8 HS CPU mod version if you would like to overclock your CPU and hence resulting in better performance(than non modded CFW).

                          Important steps

                          1) Download Revenge^6, extract(there will be 3 files).

                          2) Download firmware V21.1.004 using Navifirm. V21.1.004 because as of now Revenge^6 is not available for latest firmware.

                          3) Copy the original 8 files to folder C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-625

                          4) Copy the 3 Revenge^6 files into the above folder replacing original.

                          5) Connect your phone to PC in mass storage mode and delete system, sys, private and resource folders. Disconnect

                          6) Hard reset your phone using code *#7370#.

                          7) Switch off your phone and connect to PC using USB cable.

                          8) Flash with JAF, select manual flash and dead USB.

                          9) Once flashing is over disconnect phone and remove and reinsert battery for regaining control of your phone.

                          10) Start up your phone. Do a hard reset one more time. Hard resetting at this point is required as Revenge^6 installs some softwares(memory card should be present in phone).

For a visual guide of flashing process follow this link. Remove the spaces.
