Well a few tips to prevent the phone from heating up and for saving battery.
1) Never leave apps running in the background. Close them properly by exiting as soon as you are finished.
2) Display is the biggest battery hog in this phone so try setting the display timeout to 15 seconds or lower and set the autoscreen lock to 30 seconds.
3) Make it a habit to lock the phone manually using the lock key whenever the phone is not being used.
4) Set the brightness down to 45% or something which gives you a balance between power saving and adequate brightness.
5) Install Dzmusic key application so that front row keys can be used to change and pause music tracks. This way you don't have to unlock the phone each time you need to change track.
This way you can get upto 3 days of minimal usage or 2 days of moderate usage with every charge.

I brought this model on 18 august 2010 exactly one month back. In the last one month the phone hanged 8 times. If you use the screen continuously for about 1 -2 hours the battery runs out so fast. It is not having play back time as claimed in the specs. It plays radio/music only for few hours. If you use only for occasional phone calls then it is ok. IF you plan for multipurpose usage then this is not the one for you

- good 2 mp camera
- excellent video recording
- very good sound output (through third party headset, supplied headset is a crap)
- excellent browsing experience with 3.2 inch screen.
- unlimited no. of symbian softwares installations for customization.

the only drawback is average loudspeaker volume. you cant here the ringtone in market places & very bad sunlight visibility.

choice is yours !

shane65, 17 Sep 2010but in d phone i havent seen nokia maps/ovi maps application..so do u have download it o sumthin?Yeah it's optional due to the lack of GPS hardware. You can download it anyway from nokia website. After installation on the phone, you can copy map files to the phone for offline navigation as well.

Jigar, 17 Sep 2010is there WiFi in this cell phone....?No, this device doesn't have wifi. If you need one then go for nokia 5530 XM. But it still haven't got 3g. Gps is present though.
Nokia 5233, in my opinion, is for those who are more into softwares and media rather than navigation and high speed internet. I being a student am happy with this mobile as it has got everything i need for the time being. Big screen for movies, great audio output through headphones, great application support, good camera etc. I don't need gps nor 3g. So why pay for something i don't need. When i need them, i will buy another set. This will work fine for a couple of years.
So think before you buy. Or else you might have to repent your purchage.

Shane65, 17 Sep 2010hi guys..sbdevilmind,sidewider help me out me if u can..well we all know 5233 dosent have gps/... moreYes 5233 lacks the hardware for GPS or A-GPS but still you can use google maps or nokia maps and still get your approximate position using the cell tower id. So without GPS, voice guided navigation is a no go in this phone but still everything else works. In addition this phone supports bluetooth GPS by which you can connect to a compatable GPS phone or a standalone GPS that support bluetooth to share the position and other GPS data.
If you are serious about GPS then 5230 is best suited for you as it has integrated GPS with lifetime navigation at a very nominal price.

Xxx, 17 Sep 2010What is the difference betwen opera 10and opera 5?Opera mobile10 is the smartphone version of Opera mini5. Opera mobile is exclusive to smartphones with symbian or other smartphone OS while Opera mini is a java application for non smartphones. Unlike opera mini, opera mobile is a full featured web browser that supports tabbed browsing and a builtin download manager. It renders the page as it is and does not compress or reformat it like opera mini. The only thing missing in opera mobile is flash support other than that it beats the builtin browser in almost every respect.
