when we download applications, games from Ovi store and it sends it to our phone, does it deduct balance from our mobile phone or its totally free????
how to change the default application in 5233 like for music player can i chose any other music player as default.
i didnt find any option to change the same in application setting followed by default appls.?
Opera mini (not to be confused with opera mobile) is the most imp appn to be installed. Reason being that with no 3g & wlan, server based browser is reqd for fast browsing. In any case op mini is best as its quick and allows to backup bookmarks which can later be restored when op mini is reinstalled in the same handset (after hard reset) or different one.
Also if one is downloading unsigned apps every now and then from unofficial sites, anti virus too is reqd.
SidewindeR, 26 Aug 2010Contacts, settings, installed apps, messages, themes, and user files like calendar entries and... moreFriend,
Open file manager under menu- applns-office. Open 'backup'.
There is option 'all' to back up everything. you can do selective backup too of settings, msgs, contacts, calender, bookmarks and files.
Anonymous, 26 Aug 2010Wht all things i may loss by a hard reset ???Contacts, settings, installed apps, messages, themes, and user files like calendar entries and notes. But everything can be backed up except for the installed app. For that I guess you have to use the Ovi suite and do a full backup including your memory card.
Anonymous, 26 Aug 2010So nokia has made this phone for hackers it appears. It seems that to get the most out of this... moreHey mate... you don't have to be a geek or a hacker to hack your phone. That is the speciality of symbian open source I guess. I am neither and I'm reaping the full benefits. If you follow instructions correctly, hacking won't take much time than doing a fw update using Ovi suite.
lijo kerala, 26 Aug 2010Thankz...is the ovi store still free in modded one?Yes it is.. No changes to the OVi store or any apps that come with the fw..
Sonia, 26 Aug 2010Yaar.....Suggest me some of good apps u hav used and a very breif description abt it ????Thank... moreHi Sonia... There are a lot of good apps available for this phone. Some are productive apps while others are fun. Anyway I will just post some of apps that i feel is a must have for this phone to expand its capabilities.
LCG photobook - A great and faster alternative to the gallery that come preloaded. Supports a lot of features like folder view of pictures and faster zooming and panning.
Djavu reader - An alternative to the Adobe reader LE. Much better at rendering and displaying PDF files with smoother and faster panning. Good for ebook reading.
Google Maps - No descrition needed I guess.
Opera Mobile - Apart for the lack of flash support, the best and fastest web browser with real web like browsing experience.
Youtube app - Faster than the builtin web browser but guess quality wise not as good as the default flash player.
Quick Office - Good app for office document editing and viewing even supports office 2007 formats.
Bluetooth receiver app - this simple app allows you to receive files sent via BT directly to the phone memory or memory card.
Vivaz Conversations - Great threaded sms app with chat interface. Comes integrated as default app in SE vivaz.
Pocket sensor - this app when enabled to work in the BG automatically locks the phone as it is placed in the pocket using the builtin proximity sensor.
Best call recorder - In my opinion the best call recording app for s60v5.
Screen snap - A simple app for taking snapshots of the screen. Might come in handy who knows...
File Browser - A good app for viewing files and for easy mark and unmark of files.
Paint studio - The best painting fun app in my opinion with a myriad of features. Good for killing time.
Panoman - This app allows you to take super wide shot pictures in panorama mode using the builtin camera and automatically stiches it all together into a single pic.
TTPOD - Good mp3 player with lot of advanced features like changeable skin and homescreen widget for music controls.
So nokia has made this phone for hackers it appears. It seems that to get the most out of this fone user will have to become hacker. Normal user neither has time nor inclination for geeky things. It is therefore not surprising that nokia is lagging behind other cos. Because other cos makes fones for users and not geeks.

lijo kerala, 25 Aug 2010thankz yaar....wht all apps will i loss in the modded firmware??(like real player, ovi store,yo... moreNah you won't loose any apps that come with the phone or the latest fw. Infact the modded fw is actually based on the latest v21 update and everything in v21 is still there in the mod. The only difference is some performance boost and visual tweaks.
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2010Wont overclocking heat up the electronic circuitry (other than cpu)and damage it. the ckts mus... moreHaven't faced any heating probs yet... And as far as I know, the ARM11 434MHz processor has actually been underclocked by Nokia to conserve power. The default clock speed is actually 600MHz which is the same used in E72. Not sure if it the same processor though but I'm guessing this processor is definitely capable of doing morethan 434MHz.
Sbdevilmind, 25 Aug 2010Hi. Since you said that you have got your cpu modded, i think you meant Cpu overclocking, righ... moreYes mate... I'm using a modded fw with CPU mod. Don't know if it actually increases the CPU clock. I've read somewhere that symbian doesn't have such a provision for controlling the clock speed. Anyway I'm not sure if it is the CPU or the optimised fw for all i know my phone is very snappy and responsive and is better at multitasking than when I was using the original fw. Battery is also not a major concern as I easily get 2 days of usage on a single charge but the increase in performance is appreciable. In addition I use a custom flash based home screen so I wouldn't be much surprised even if the battery backup is a bit on the lower side.
