i aboslutely LOVE my new purple Nokia 5300..it's the bst and i love to play "D.J" in class
Greetings to all from my corner in the world.
I had the choice to either get my 5300 through my cellphone carrier, which meant it was going to be locked but at a cheaper price, or to get it unlocked but at a much higher price. I chose the second option. The problem is that it comes with only 3 "writing languages" (when composing text messages using T9 prediction): Enlgish, Melayu and Chinese.
Is there any way I can find the files that would allow me to add Spanish as one of the writing languages available?
Any help/advise you provide will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks everyone! (love the phone).
Rafa.
This phone is nice but when i hold it. it feels like one of those fake phones from the dollar store lol. and the fact that it is only 1.3 mp with no flash is really bad. cell phones thaat are coming out now have amazing cameras. so if ur gonna buy a phone buy something that will stay new for a couple more years so thatu dont regret it. but the phone is not expensive and it has a big screen. with an mp3 player so thats nice.
hi my nokia 5300, is coming tomro in the post i hope its gona be good,
The real potential of this phone is only when you plug in a good pair of earphone. I'm listening my music using a pair of creative earphones that come with my creative zen and the sound was awesome compared to the original nokia earphone. I even pair it up with a FM transmitter and tested it in a few cars and the sound was so nice you cant really tell that its actually from a phone. Bass are fairly deep but there is more treble but the phone has a built in eq with a few presets and 2 user programmable slot. For your info this phone mp3 player provide stereo listening through the earphone but mono through the external speaker. Its FM radio has very very good reception and it is stereo too. You can access the radio and mp3 player through the standby screen and the mp3 player layout is very logical as it use the D-pad for basic functions such as play forward skip etc. The dedicated music keys are very useful. Volume scales from 1 to 10 and it is already quite loud in quite environment when set at 7 or 8 and at max the sound do distort abit but in my opinion the higher range of volume is jus to amplify songs with lower volume and it had no mean to play louder songs even louder as it will only damage the speaker. Now about the camera even thought its mere 1.3 mp but it takes fairly good pic under bright condition but horrible pic in dark or night places as it does not have a built in flash. The camera is there to take casual shots and bare in mind that the main feature of the phone is the music player not the camera. If you want a perfect camera and a perfect mp3 player you should invest more on a smart phone or pda as this is just a middle class phone. The phone itself is very user friendly and easy to use. It is fast but if you were to use a higher capacity memory card it would take about 2 seconds longer to enter the memory card menu after that browsing are smooth. The phone slider is not that solid as it may wobble sometimes and when it is slide open the top part would be slightly heavier some may find this uncomfortable but for me its okay. The buttons very nice to press and you can slide open and press the button with one hand without any problems. The buttons are a little loose if you were to press the button harder and it may even click against the button beside. This is not an issue if you are a gentle person. You can accept a call without sliding the phone instead you can use the buttons infront. Battery life are fairly short. The battery meter have 3 scale only. With low usage such as a few calls or msgs and a few hours of music listening it takes around 2 days to drop a bar considering your phone is on during the nights too. Heavy usage will only last you for about 2 days till it is empty. Phone reception is good as it will always be at 3 or 4 bar max. The phone can be customize the way you wan it to be. Shortcuts for D-pad both softkeys the way it shows the menu and folder when browsing themes tones and alot more. The phone supports flight mode too. Support song formats are mp3 wav aac aac+ wma too all can be used as ringtones. The phone offers voice clarity function which is found in some samsung phones but how well it works im not sure so i jus leave it on. Incoming calls are loud and clear in quite condition and the other party finds no problem listening to my voice. Another nice part of the phone is the mini usb port. Which means you can use normal mp3 cable to connect your phone to the pc. Apart from that it has bluetooth 2.0 and IR connection wap and edge. My conclusion is that it is a very good phone for its middle price range. It is a good music phone and you can use your normal earphone as it uses standard earphone jack. Mini usb is very convenient and the phone is user friendly.
Is it only through music jukebox 2.0 that I can upload music, 10.1 can't do much... it says I have to download plug in devices and there is none available for the nokia 5300... help please... I have had the phone for a week and I still don't have music... (the reason I bought the phone...)
To Avantika,
Nokia 5300 is great you will not be disappointed. For its price, its incredible.
To Justin,
The phone currently supports 2GB for the meantime. In the future firmware it may support 4GB or more.
Is there anyone knows if this phone is compatible to 2GB or 4GB memory cards? Does it hangs if larger memory will be used??? Please tell me! Because that's one thing bothers me from buying this phone! But I like it anyway! Tnx!

Hey all..firstly I wanna express my big admiration for the GSMArena site, it's really my favourite site as I'm a big mobile phones maniac :)
and I truly appreciate the big efforts of the GSMArena team..they really make the most objective and detailed mobile phone reviews online!
However, I've got a remark that I hope most people would be aware of..in their comments on the announcement of the Xpress Music line from nokia the gsmarena team said that "the flagship of this trio is undoubtedly the 5300"...well, I've got to point out though that the 5300 (and 5200) is made in Hungary (see the pic with back cover removed in 5300's review) which logically means that it would have a lower quality than the Finnish-made ones as the 3250 xpress music for example..I personally had a bad experience with those Hungarian-made nokias..they have a weak construction and they look quite cheap! let alone the fact that they've got nothing to do with durability!! (notice that in their review of 5300 the gsmarena team states that it has cheap looks and plays a little when closed)
Nokia has always delegated making budget, low-end phones to Hungary so I don't seem to understand why such is the case with a phone that is a member of a family which is supposed to strongly compete with the walkman series from SE! what I'm saying is that if any music-maniac nokia fan out there is looking for a durable, high-quality handset with an OS and a relatively reasonable price then he definitely should go for the 3250 Xpress Music, not the 5300..or if he's got enough budget then maybe one of the N-series Music Edition phones would suit him. I really hope my point would be taken into consideration..just for the sake of customers' peace of mind! So, any replies or comments from you guys?
i had the cutter on the phone but lost it some how is there any way of getting it back on the phone
thank you
its amazing...i bought this unique phones just after it released...such as pleasure for me to had this phones....the most amaze is its sound...just like listern to speaker

I am 43 and the teens are drooling lol

Hi to everyone who loves this mobile like i do. but i need help. when i'm converting a movie to my mobile with the nokia pc suite, it is converted to only 11sec. how can i upload a full lenght video or is there another program?
" hi, does anyone know what is the difference between N5300 and N5200? "
Now that is a BIG mistery!
Maybe if you use your mouse, you could open the Specifications pages of those 2, right here on this website.
