hello...i have both W900 and 5700.
5700 has a lot better speakers than W900..:)
i mean in case of speakera quality...
my 5700 can play video with sound in whatever way i record... that just some S60 bugs.;)
concerning the external dual speaker. Id have to say it is definitely nothing great. bass sounds bit fake and no 'oomph'. However this isn't really a concern because if one was talk about audio quality in detail then just plug your ears up. The external speakers is mainly just for light entertainment and ringing of course.
Concerning the review. I'd say its just an honest review. It is exactly how I would express it myself. All that was mainly criticised or pointed flaws is pretty true especially for the joystick. However I do have to disagree slightly on the weak bass since it does have an comfortably acceptable good bass on earphones (Not with the bundled earphone). Anyways I thought the review was pretty good since it didn't mention any false disadvantages that i've not noticed or read and since it did praise the phone for its real capabilities like the speed, os, display and its pretty well built swivel function.
Ps. I dont like the alarm in this phone due to very limited settings etc. Typical of all nokia alarms besides allowing multiple alarms.
Does 5700 have the facility that security key pad lock that is password (passcode) protection for keypad lock?
and one more thing, does your 5700's DUAL STEREO SPEAKER sound louder & richer than nokia 3250's single mono speaker?if you say yes, then you have a hearing problem...again, the dual stereo speakers are marketing gimik..there are lots of monospeaker (3250, SE W900, SEP910) that sound a lot better than stereo speakers...
does nokia pay you?what do u guys get from this phone companies?i've had a lot of nokias, SEs, Motos, & samsungs and i'd say everyone of them has advantage over the other..i like nokia's symbian OS & features, samsung's hardware & style, SE's batteries, camera & music capabilities, moto's originality & linux OS..and i dnt wanna argue about 5310 / 5610 and all that because this phones have yet to be released..you talk as if you have seen the phones..and yes, expressmusic is just a marketing trick (just like some walkman)..well, maybe the "UPCOMING" 5310/5610 will change the concept but as far the previous expressmusic phones are concerned, they' re simply the same phone with updated firmware..dont be so emotionally attached to this phone companies as if they're paying you..be fair on your posts guys...

if u say xpress music series is a marketing gimik then the s.e. walkman series must be a gimik too ur wrong in comparing both 6120 and 5700 they are same a like but ... the 5700 xm offers dual speakers and a twisting base ... external music keys ... the 5700 is designed for younger people while the 6120 is a good phone designed for adults ... its upto the users to choose between both phones ... if u say that xpress music series is a gimik take a look at the newly introduced 5310 xpress music and the 5610 xpress music take a look at the difference between the three phones including 5700 xpress music ... take a look at how the 5700 twists its base & plays using dual stereo speakers and take a look at the 5610 slider with 3.1 mega pixel cam and the different type of menus and how it changes between its menus in an instance ... take a look at the 5310 xpress music with the slimmer design that fits the pocket its amazing ... these three phones and the 5300 xpress music exactly gives an idea of how a music phones series should exactly look like ... i think this is not a gimik by nokia but the xpress music series have exactly succeed already from music phones ... the more time nokia xpress music gets the more different type of phones they will introduce not just a newly designed phone with same options but with different options ... :-)
if you like music, nokia's symbian phones (5700, 3250, N-Series, E-Series, 6110 Navigator)are a good choice..the Series 40 phones (like 5300,5200) are inferior ones as the music player is plain & you cant install 3rd party musi player..SE's K-Series phones (K610, K618, K800, K810) are also a good choice, they produce the same quality of SE's walkman series (W800, W810, W710) if you use the walkman headsets or other quality headsets..Motorola's ROKR series are also a good choice and even better in some ways as they have a built-in 3.5mm jack (like N91) which i think is also a factor in the sound production..until now, SE doesnt offer a phone with a built-in 3.5mm jack and you're stuck with their own converters for their stupid proprietary connectors..if you like to know the best music phone right now, check your friendster then search: firstname.lastname@example.org
i've read the review of mobile-review on nokia 5700, i dnt see anything malicious on that..the bundled headphone was even commended for its design & quality..i dnt know what you guys are complaning..
5700 is a nice phone..but i think 6120 classic is a better choice, with 3.5G, slimmer & definitely smaller..their music capabilities should be the same since they run on the very same software & both use the very same music/video player..the expressmusic tag is just a gimik..it's simply the same phone with bigger memory cards & updated firmware (so the bugs are somewhat fixed)..then they change the color to black...

its true that mobile-review is not that good providing comments on nokia phones apart from what readers have disagreed about this site and as it had been a web site that belongs to a hard core s.e. fan i also like to ask why its nokia 5700 xpress music reviews got photos of a hardly used very old second hand type of 5700 phone ... and they are comparing it to a new sony ericsson w580i ... this also makes me think that this site is full of fake and s.e. only loyalty ... for example take a look at the pictures of the nokia 5700 in the gsm arena web site review ... i think its time that this fake one sided web site called mobile-review.com to grow up a little ... i think the owner of that site is a grown up but mentally ill and unstable person acting as a 5 year old kid with a s.e. in his hand ... im sorry if someone got hurt but i dont stand people who lies ...
i'm not saying that s.e. is bad but what's the reason they are making every walk man phones firmware the same looking and why is that they have a low customer support even online ... i will definitely buy a new s.e. phone which comes out with a different kind of firmware or an o.s. but it must give all the customizations possible to the user it needs to be just like nokias symbians (they rock) it needs to be just like 5700 xm or better i dont care ... but for now why would i go for a s.e. phone that got the same looking firmwares ... and it doesnt give full customization options to the users even the themes are changed some stuff of s.e. firmware such as the icons looks the same ... whats the reason for that ... why are they only trying to playback there old recordings about the mega bass and mp3 ... the only thing they are changing between there phones is the design not the firmware so that every s.e. phone almost gives the users the same experience ... i think it should be a good time that s.e. should give users a better changed options experience ... even motorolas are now making history getting together with linux based mobile o.s. ... i am not lying to u about this i have used many s.e. phones but what makes me stop using those is that almost all of em gives the same experience to me and the same firmware ... but nokia on the other hand tries to give mobile owners a better experience and better options and a better customization experience in there every new phone , i really appreciate that ...
i really dont think mr. murtazin is biased towards SE..i've read his reviews & it seemed fair to me..he even made an in-depth review of nokia's symbian OS 3rd edition, FP1, the N-Series, E-Series, and so forth..and even in his comparative review of W950i (the phone i'm using now) vs N91, he did mention that N91's audio sounded better - though W950i won overall (becoz he considered the size & the package of the phone), which i agree coz my W950i doesnt really satisfy me with its music capabalities..this was what he had to say : "From my perspective, in terms of their music departments the two phones are like apples and oranges with Nokia N91 coming out on top in just about every way. And it is more likely that for now this handset in second to none on the market."
now, how can he be biased..not all reviews are perfect..even the most competent phone reviewer could make mistakes..and it's unfair to say that it was an intentional blunder - to overlook a phone's important feature..
yes, i've read a lot of your posts..u even helped me once when i was using N71 & N73..you've been very helpful to a lot of people but it's not fair to criticize one's review..and i dont think you've met Mr. Murtazin himself..unless you have been to Russia..so how would you know if he's like some corrupt philippine politician?
peace...pinoy din 'to pre...im here in manila..
It's up to you, it'll be your choice. After all, 5700 and W810 are both great music-phones.
But let me cite some points that might help you.
W810's camera has autofocus, where it is absent in 5700. But 5700's video recorder is much better since it records in 320x240 resolution in mp4 format. W810 records at only 176x144 resolution in 3gp.
5700 is 3g capable(which should be a standard in today's phones), W810 isn't.
5700's inbox headset is good but W810's inbox headset produces much better sound quality. But I used other sets like Sennheiser HD550 and Sony earphones from my CD-Walkman and their sounds were almost exactly the same. Just like GSMarena's review and some other's (Viperkid is one) observation, there is little difference. Most importantly both phones are really good in producing high quality music. You just have to adjust equalizer to fit your liking.
Both phones' designs are awesome as they're both aimed to cater the youth. 5700's screen is of better resolution because of its' 16million color monitor while W810 only has 262,144. But overall, both handsets' screens are bright even under daylight. (For a better understanding of 16million color res compared to 256k, you'd better visit wikipedia.org for you to know more.)
I have been using 5700 for 3 months now and have experienced W810 (from my girlfriend) and for me, 5700 is very useful because lots of s60 applications are now coming out lately. W810 has to offer a few.
Those are some of the most notable comparisons I've drawn based on my experience. Again, it'll be your decision. And take note what your needs and wants are before your purchase. I know you're excited to buy a new phone. Good luck!
which phone is good 5700 or 6120 classic?
does hsdpa make much difference in normal use
i need a solid music phone with excellent smartphones abilities.
Just to clarify the scenario...
I've tried recording a video without twisting the phone. And then when I play the video, regardless if the phone is twisted or not, horizontal or full-screen, there's no audio. Whenever volume buttons are pressed, it will show "NO AUDIO"
But when I record video with the phone twisted (the way it should), the video plays fine and has audio.
i think that just bug... mine sometimes could not played the twist sound. i have to restart my phone and it works then.
my 5700 can play the video with sound when i directly played it after i recorded, but the realplayer plays in potrait mode instead of landscape when we used twist...:)
s u can view excel, word documents in 5700.but donjt know about powerpoint
About your worries and queries...
The twisting form factor is mastered by Nokia. In my case, I have been using 5700 for more than 3 months now and it doesn't get loose. I do a lot of sms and my fingers are heavy when pressing. And to think that the keypad is at the twisting base, it doesn't allow any movement. The twisting part is firm and steady. I also have a colleague who uses 3250 for more than a year and he doesn't see any issues with the twister. And most of all, I'm pretty sure Nokia did a good job. 3250 still sells in the market and that's why it's succeeded by 5700.
As for the camera, yes, it can be activated without twisting the phone. (But I don't know with you, because for me it looks awkward taking a photo/video without twisting.)
But there's one thing I've noticed when I tried using video recorder without twisting it. When I played the video, it doesn't have any audio!
Other 5700 users, do you also find this one in your units? I'd appreciate your answers.
