for people comparing it to iphone, i can say, that it's incomparable because they belong to different class..
iphone for fashion concious and 5800 for techie
its just hard to find a combination of two, same as with the real world, its hard to find beauty and brains..
i wish nokia will come out with s40 touch and equip it to their fashion-positioned touch phones making the iPhone challenged.
imagine if Nokia will release a touch UI model in positioning like the 8800 series, that might be the end of iphone. hehe.
imagine, after all the subtitles for Nokia 8800 like arte, carbon, sirocco, gold arte, sapphire arte, etc.,,, they will have the Nokia 8800 Touch.. oowee!
cant wait to see future nokia touch phones. if they need concepts, they can talk to me.. hehe
i really want this phone. when it was just a rumor, it was the rumor i really wanted to be a fact. a touch phone from nokia. almost all brands produces their touchscreen phones so i cannot wait for a touch phone Nokia style. also,it's expected that the interface will result to that (focus-driven they say, double tapping required, 1st tap to point, 2nd tam to confirm selection). the day i read about the 5800 rumor, i get puzzled on how nokia will layout an interface for it. and as expected, its s60. for me, the ui is not complicated, it made that way because S60 is feature-rich so they need a touch ui that can get the most out of s60..
.i want to see more gesture based controls (swipe, drag commands, etc) rather than just by tapping only. say, swiping diagonally from from screen corners can switch application. say in standby screen, you can just swipe your fingers left or right to change from its views (shor cut bar, contacts bar or basic) so there would be no going to settings, say swiping from left to right skips you to the next message in messages or next tab in profiles or setting.. also, when marking items in gallery/file manager, is there a shortcut for that? also, i want nokia to take advantage of free spaces in the screen. say in music player, its better to see dedicated keys for launching equalizer, shuffle off/on, repeat off/on, surround, so we dont have to open options.
what i see in the future of touchOS of nokia is that they will introduce S40 touch. and this s40 version will fill the shortage in elegance of s60 touch ui. the difference will be, s40 touch will bring lots of eye-candy navigation.. say scrolling ala iphone, more transition effects and novelty gesture-based shorcuts of functionality but with of course limited or light technical features as expected.
i already read lots of comprehensive review about Nokia 5800 (mobilereview, allaboutsymbian, gsmarena, and even forums), have multiple brochures of it posted in my room, save all reviews in my cuurent phone Nokia 5700, canvassing price on differents stores, but sadly, i still dont have one.. huhu. but its because of the earpiece factory defect news that was posted in mobile review. i will just let the remaining units w/ this defect clear off the market. and let its price drop off more. hehe. hopefully i can by a Nokia 5800 this june 2009.. hahaha.
It have bunch of good features , but actually it looks more like a cheap knock-off version of iPhone but with higher spec.
It look like all companies were waiting for iPhone 3G first , so they can build something with higher features & spec. so they can say : iPhone-killer , but they are bunch of wanna-be

Hmm haven't tried that mode yet. I usually just set it in auto mode, cus I'm just too lazy to play around with camera settings. :D
Anyway tx for the tip, I'll try that, hopefully it's much better.
Fawaz, 12 May 2009In the market we have Nokia 5800 but made in China?
what do you think, is it OK to buy it? "In the market we have Nokia 5800 but made in China?

I think like 99% of phones are already made in China but some are truly fake ones. I've read in a forum where a guy was cheated to buy a N96 at a cheaper price and the phone turned out to be a fake one! The casing and the first few layers of menu are exactly the same as the original N96 (that's why people can get cheated) but then many of the key features are not there! So be careful of those, I suggest you buy from trusted shops.

Snigdho, 12 May 2009Does the 5800 screen scratch protected without screen protector sheet???well yes. if you use the provided input instruments to type and stuff your screen will not be damaged. I've been using this for quite a while now and mine looks as good as new.
