Hi ! i'm from bulgaria. i work in mobile phone shop and look for new mobile pfone. Before month i think that nokia 5800 was great fone- wi-fi, OS and GPS ...but month later ...
My shop sale 10 Nokia 5800 and 6 are back for service up to three days after sale ! 3 from phonese have problem with touch scren ! 2 phones have problem with music player ( THIS IS MUSIC PHONE )
Before week i purchase E71 & E63 (pink) for my girlfriend ! VIVA nokia "E" !!!
Oh and by the way,
I emailed Nokia Careline, 3x already and was promised by the rep that i will be called by the relevant department... i haven't received any call from them.
here is the exact message:
"You will be contacted by the relevant department shortly."
i really don't know how short is short in Nokia time and how long is long. Because as far as fixing my phone is concerned, it seems that 1 month of fixing the phone doesn't bother them at all.
I just hope that people from Nokia reads this for them to know how disappointed someone can be with the kind of service they provide.
Anonymous, 02 Mar 2009what seems to be the problem of your phone?
I bought my phone on January 21 (a blue 5800), it was working well until one day, February 4, it ran out of battery. When i charged it, it was not charging, you know the charging icon and the lights, it didn't come out. so i just thought that maybe the battery was just dead, so i waited. after 4 hours of charging and checking, nothing happened!
but it is alright, it is a brand new phone that comes with 12 month warranty from nokia! how convenient when i brought the phone to Nokia Care Center in Alabang Town Center (Philippines). I was told by the repreentative that i have to leave the phone with them to be fixed. So on February 5, 2009, Nokia Care Center took care of my woes.
February 22, 2009 i came back to ATC as i was called by the rep a day before that my phone was fixed. when i tried to turn it on, nothing happened! It was HORRIBLE! for 17 days! the phone was still in COMA!!! I was advised again by the rep to leave it with them.
It is already March 2 and my phone is still with Nokia Care Center! Imagine the horror of purchasing a defective phone that Nokia doesn't even consider replacing after almost a month of fixing!
GOODNESS!!! do they think that i should hold on to that crappy phone! Terrible Nokia experience! I used to love their phones but I swear i will never ever buy one Nokia product ever again! To think that my whole family is using this brand, i am so dissapointed with these people behind Nokia.
Avoid this phone at all cost! I will never stop from telling other people this! This is just a waste of money! and my time!!!
i got the phone about a week now and i think its fantastic, very user friendly and the 8gigs makes a huge difference!!! Although i feel the camera kinda sucks, i just expected a bit more, other than that its a fantastic piece of technology! If you looking for a new phone, i definatly recomend it.
Regarding the Apple Patents on iPhone, will that means we NOKIAN will never have Pinch, Spread and Flick Scroll on Nokia resistive touch ever? I know there is a new technology which can let resistive touch screen users do Pinch, Spread and Flick Scroll. Will Nokia not implement this in OS due to being sued by Apple?
iPhone have iPhone Dev Team whose Cydia and Installous can turn iPhone into an almost PERFECT phone. Drakkarious is a piece of software which can install unsigned softwares on Symbian.
Will we hack the N97 Firmaware in order to implement Multitouch(Pinch, Spread and Flick Scrolling) in Nokia Firmaware to turn N97 the ULTIMATE AND THE BEST EVER phone in the world?
If Not, at least implement multitouch in browser and photo viewing porgram!!!!!
If nokia won;t do it, it should be the work of Symbian Hacker!!!!
Avi, 02 Mar 2009Hi,
Can anyone answer my question?
I happen to do a lot of messaging on m... moreit happens exactly the same way in all sybian phones! And 5800 is better because in log there is a button that looks like an envelope, so if u touch it, u will be taken to the msg editor which will send sms or mms to the previously selected person in log!
Hope this helps!

The main problem that many users complain about is the top right corner of the casing that tends to loosen up with time, and, supposedly, causes the earpiece to give up the ghost or, at very least start making creaking noises and spontaneously changing its volume while in a call.
Apparently, it stood to reason that we needed to investigate these two flaws as one, since a loose-fitting part of the casing probably made the earpiece slip several millimeters down from its original position. Skipping the details, I’d like to say that this approach has proven to be inadequate – these are two separate problems, because over the course of our experiments we ran into several phones that didn’t have any issues with their casings, however their earpieces were barely usable and vice versa.
The right corner of the phone tends to loosen up because of a slightly displaced screw. All in all, this design flaw is characteristic of most 5800 XM units. However, it’s rather an unpleasant feature, as the frame surrounding the earpiece doesn’t go anywhere, meaning that the abovementioned issue with the 5800’s casing has absolutely no effect on its earpiece performance (in that it doesn’t slip down or start to wobble in its slot).
With this in mind, we decided to focus on the problem with the 5800’s earpiece and here is what we have managed to find out.
Nokia 5800’s earpiece
BEWARE, 02 Mar 2009ALL NOKIA 5800 XPRESSMUSIC have factory defects as published in mobile-review.com. Go check th... moreThanks for source to show my points are correct. I like to post what the site say about this phone http://www.mobile-review.com/articles/2009/5800-brak-en.shtml:
All Nokia 5800 come with a defect?!
We have been looking into the situation around the faulty earpiece on the Nokia 5800 and analyzing feedback from the users since early December. For me this work was exciting from several perspectives – for one, I was able to find a connection between warranty claims and certain usage patterns, as well as put together a thorough picture of various types of defects (both hardware and software) present in this phone. We are not going to cover the 5800 XpressMusic’s software issues, though, as they are fairly easy to rectify with a new firmware version, whereas its hardware flaws require the user to return the phone for repair, so they are a lot more crucial. Also, we won’t touch upon the statistics on warranty claims and issues of this nature – rather, we’d like to tell you more about the design flaws in the Nokia 5800 and also the real scope of the problem
Before we start I want to note that since December we have torn apart over ten retail units of the Nokia 5800 – basically, we put them through a whole array of tests and experiments, in an effort to find out what the reason of breakdowns was. While one could argue whether we have tested enough phones to make any sort of competent conclusion, we have reached the point when we are no longer eager to spend money on these experiments, as no matter how many phones we try, the end result is always the same. The same defect manifests itself under similar circumstances in all units without exception, including those that were fixed by Nokia’s authorized service centers
As Much as Nokia 5800 looks good and everyone excited to see the first Nokia Touch Screen is out. It is not as good as it looks. The quality of Pacakge is cheap looking feeling holding it. Is not like or feel like holding an expensive phone. It is plastic phone. I Bought several 5800 phone in Thailand around end of November for me and and as gift for several friends.
First major problem ear phone. They were all defected and had to change. Some was okay for while and some keep having the same problem still. Basicly sound go up and down or alot of statics. Next problem is that for typing a sms for touch screen is not like Iphone that you can type your message quickly. It lags and make alot of eror. and in last you ca nnot find any applications for this version of Nokia 5800. There is a new Samsung Omnia HD coming in next few months with same upgrade program which should be a great phone. Looking forward to see it soon.
I finally sold mine and replace with my Old E66 which was happy before. Not saying I owen 2 Iphone which I am very Happy with. Hope my comment help you and rush to quick to buy this phone.
Can anyone answer my question?
I happen to do a lot of messaging on my nokia phones and am able to access the frequent messagers via the Recently used or via open log buttons on my 6233. I find this very convenient rather than going into contacts every time. Is something similar available on the 5800.
Thanks in advance for the response

AyashiFX55, 01 Mar 2009Dude, why u guys keep on sending to nokia centre if its the earbud/speaker problem? Just fix i... moreSo you think you're an expert?! My phone is not turning on and not charging at all! So why do you think i would bring it to Nokia Care Center in the first place. And even if it has speaker problem, i won't fix it myself because it has warranty and i paid for that warranty! Why should i fix it myself? I am not as S**PID as YOU! Maybe if i just bought my phone without any warranty that i will opt to fix it by myself? Don't you think that is more logical?!
