Turbofreak, 17 Jan 2009I sold my N79 too to buy this phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 loland i think i took the right decision man! Alot of people are complaining about the phone, guys i am gona hand u the still camera, its dreadful, but everything else is awewome. Guys why r j buying Chinese cr#p? In our country the Chinese one costs 340$ where the Hungarian one costs 450$ and i have seen the difference in between the two, starting from the build quality and software performance is miles ahead in the Hungarian one. This is really not commendable for a world leader brand Nokia. Why would their products differ so much? I don't have any kind of speaker phone problems,i have using the set really heavily(30hrs of talktime and almost 3 gbs of packet data connection) but still no hanging problem. The build quality is top notch, well i admit not like eseries. The memory is 80% full and i downloaded all the softwares from the download centre and instaled themes and softwares from otjer forums but it is still really fast(believe me i know fast phones, i used n79 for 2 months!) but uneed to turn off the theme animations,it drastically slows the phone and then it feels more like n95_1. So guys if u want to buy this phone then go for the Hungarian one!
I have seen such bad experiences and comments from every where for 5800. In fact, I have just booked a new one from a dealer and will get it during CNY...I might think of change it to E71 instead of 5800...think will be more safer...
Why to you all think?
Dear N Series users, dont buy this. I am sure you will repent after 1 month if not earlier.
I knew it was going to be something like this. But this is the limit, you dont even give such a cheap thing to your baby. Holy Crap! Pure Plastic. I bought one week ago. Now, I can see the lights glowing from every angle of inside of my phone. The top cover is coming up I think! Shame Nokia! Very Cheap Build.
Its camera is as worse as it can get! My SE w910i 2mp cam was a lot better. Anyway other features are awesome.
oh by the way i m back to my SE p990i , and considering the xperia x1 which was my 1st choice but bcuz tmobile does not have 3G service in the state i live in, i ended up getting this nokia phone
that s based on personal experience i hope u don t go thru the same thing and ur set is better then mine
i got the phone for $ 420 , very nice on the outside , too many problems on the inside
1) speaker volume goes up and down on its own
2) touch screen not responsive after 1 week of use , i tap on settings , the applications open up i tap messages, calendar pops up( even though i calibrate the screen)
3) downloads are free - not- office application and the other 7 0r 8 apps are not free and they slow the phone down,
my main concern is the touch screen how to fix that problem eventhough i m running the latest firmware v11.0.008 is that phone stupid or what >i even restored factory settings and still have the same problem and now i have to restart the set every time it happens
it wans t worth the money paid for , i should ve never switched from SE p 990i to this junk,it was my fault i should ve never used a nokia set after what i suffered with the N 95 that i bought for $ 700 when they came out
anyone with a solution for the touch problem?>please let me know
ps: i fixed the speaker problem myslef ( ask how and i ll guide u if u want 2)
thank u all and hope to hear from any of u soon
i'm going back to my old N95 8GB lovely phone :)
bought it 10 pm, taking it back 10 am
i hope that shop won't make me lose much mony for taking it back
i just hope
i finally had it !!
i was really eager to have this phone, it was like a crush
and i think my experience is little special..
i was on N95 8GB which by the way is AWSOME device
then i thought it's time to change, i liked the 5800, so i bought it, but guys, the diff. is waaaay big!!
there is no comparison at all, the N series is the best
on all levels:
*SYSTEM: there r many many diff. regarding system, in favour of N95 of course
such as.. when choosing small font, the tags of grid icons disappear, and let me tell u , this is very confusing!!
*SCREEN: N is wider, i was very nervous on that "tall" screen, it was something like a facebook profile image, specially with the wallpapers
also the resolution,N is better, the resolution i say NOT the size of display
*CONSTRUCTION: when u hold N95 8GB, u just feel that u r holding something firm,solid
but with 5800,i was afraid to broke it!! it felt like some plastic toy
*finishing materials also, my lovely N95 8GB has a wonderful luxuious materials, when as 5800 is made of plastic!!
*CAMERA: i won't talk about it, the review just said what's right..it\s awful, really, very bad even compared to other 3MP mobile cams,it's way below accepted range
*another thing, it takes TWO hands to deal with the phone, one to hold, and the other to touch, and that's very uncomfortable, for me at least..N95 8GB just use ONE hand to do it all
*now, to the MOST ANNOYING part: all connection means in N95 8GB are free, not coverd, i can connect it to USB directly,SIM is resting in peace,MEMO is built in
in 5800 it's just like a war!! it takes ages to open the cover of the momoery,or the USB,i mean REALLY HARD
and the mechanism of the SIM also, very very strang
look guys, i'm not saying that it's bad phone,i'n just saying that u can't go from hi-end to mid-end, it's really very difficult thing to do
i used to things, and it's not there, that's all
the phone is fine, very very acceptable IN MID-RANGE
the package is very good, the price too,it's good deal for those who didn't get N-Series addiction
also: U SHOUL PAY ATTENTION TO GSM ARENA REVIEWS,IT'S VERY ACCURATE :)
At last, I got 5800 in my hands,
it is all mine, my presius :D
very nice phone, video and sound quality are great,
it is pocket friendly ;)
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Hey mladen, i am just sayin it is very easy to criticize a new product. but its bad to misguide people this way. i dont believe anyone can compare the 5700 with 5800 like matin did. i myself used the 5700 for half a year. the 5800 is simply a generation ahead...
Matin, 16 Jan 2009Hi guys
i had a 5700xm for about 2 years and i was thinking to change it. so i was thinking... moreHey Matin listen
the bottomline is 5700 is too hideous for a phone as cool as the 5800. So why dont u eat up ur 5700 nd stop bothering us

n85 is all about multimedia and has best screen in QVGA(240:320)resolution on the market;
n79 is a trimmed version of n85 in candybar shape,and has beter busines capabilyties,swichable back covers and eco and sport versions;
5800 is good looking,bang for a buck and has astonyshing 16:9 screen;
n85 has better sound quality than 5800.

Greetings from serbia!!!
About suposibly bad touch response on this phone:for security it is set to response harder when you touch it with fingers, but its sensitivity is much better when you use magnetic stylus which comes with phone.
Sory for my english.
nokia: this seems like a really great phone and i was intending to make it as my next mobile, but nokia you need to fix these problems people talk about: earpiece to OS issues and bad cam... YOU MUST LIVE UP TO YOUR REPUTATION NOKIA!
