Anonymous, 27 Dec 2008I don't understand how the voting system on the left hand side of the home page has given this... morearey...the same voting system is applicable to i phone forum also...go and see ....how much it got in each category...please try to accept the truth. By the way in all ways 5800 is better than iphone...it may not be the best phone but obviously better than crap iphone.
I have tried in the net and collected some games and themes for 5800. Hope it will be useful to you all.I will keep on updating the file. If anyone got some applications and games etc which is compatible and tested , then please post the link here.
I don't understand how the voting system on the left hand side of the home page has given this better marks than the iPhone. I am an a IPhone user and I could not live without it! The design and perform are way better than anything Nokia could EVER make!
New York's Nokia Flagship store is selling the Eu version 5800xm for 350USD, one of the sales said NAM expect to come out in March.
I am so sick of USA always try to reinvent the wheel to have its own standard of every system yet have extremely slow process in approval of everything.
janus, 26 Dec 2008hi crige, u r doin wnderful job outa here.i hav a prob, plz help me,can u tel me hw to activat... moreHi Janus,
I'm not quiet sure on what your refering too but hopefully what I am about to say is what you are asking about.
Your asking how to activate the media bar under the power bars on the right of the mobile/cell.
Just so I have this right.. looking at the mobile facing you with the screen looking at you, on the right of the mobile/cell you have your video camera, below that is the XpressMusic media button then onto the screen now you have your powers bars for your battery indicator followed by the rest of the screen with the contacts and dialler buttons at the bottom of the screen.
I can only assume that when you mean "How to acticate the media bar" is that you are refering that on the home screen you can either have set as blank, with your 4 most important contacts or the media bar that shows and gives quick access to certain folders or applications. This is what I am assuming you are asking me how to activate.
As im going to assume this for now, I will advise on how below. Just follow the numbers.
1) Press on the menu key at the bottom, that is in between the green call and the red hang up buttom. The menu button is white.
2) On the next screen select "settings"
3) Then select "Personal"
4) Then you have 3 options, a) Profiles, b) Themes or c) Home Screen. Select "c", home screen
5) On the next screen, you are faced with a) Basic, b) Shortcuts Bar or c) Contacts Bar. Select "B" for Shortcuts bar.
**This will then put the shorts cuts media bar on your home screen under the battery bars and across the top of the home screen**
You can go back into these setiings and choose which short cuts you prefer to have selected on your home screen.
I have the feeling that the above may not be what you are asking, so I'm sorry if i am wrong.
Please explain a little more detail if I am wrong as on mine there isn't anymore bard options under the battery bars indicator that I can select.
moi, 26 Dec 2008To: everyones opinion especially CRAIG
>>is this a good phone other than the samsung TOCCO?... moreTo Moi,
I can't compare the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Mobile to the Samsung Tocco, specially as I've never had or used the Samsung and if I did, I wouldn't compare but provide you with my hands on experience. So sorry I can't assist you with the difference between the two.
The battery life on the Nokia 5800 is good,I use mine all day and it does last a while, depending on what type of usage and how you are using your mobile will determain on how long it will last you.
I wouldn't know if the Nokia 5800 is released in Saudi at the moment either, sorry about that. It's not even released here in Australia yet, I bought mine from overseas.
miss archi, 26 Dec 2008to craig
can i know plz from which place in uae u got ur 5800 xpress music
Hi Miss Archi,
Please read my response to Vicks as this indicates where I bought my model. Just saves me from repeating myself.
007, 26 Dec 2008Which is better n82 or 5800, and what is this LED flash?? Pls help Hi 007,
I had the Nokia N82 12 months ago and I now have the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Mobile phone.
I enjoyed the Nokia N82, it is a good mobile phone. I never had an issue with the one I had. What I liked most about the Nokia N82 was the fact that it has a Xenon flash, the flash gives you true tones when taking pics and it's the same flash they use in digital cameras. SE use the Xenon flash on there Cyber-shot ranges.
The N82 has a 5mp camera with the Xenon flash, where the 5800 has a 3.2mp camera with twin led flash. I personally like the Xenon flash but I'm not fussed with it when it comes to a mobile phone. I have a 8mp digital camera if I want to take pictures when I'm at parties etc.
The Nokia 5800 holds up to 16gb of memory while the N82 hold up to 8gb.
Ones a touch screen while the other is your standard candybar form with press buttons.
It's going to come down to what you personally like. Ask yourself these questions:
1) Do you want a good camera mobile with a good flash, if you say yes, then go the N82.
2) Do you want a lot of memory on your mobile, if yes go the Nokia 5800
3) Do you want a mobile that offers you a good camera, lots of memory, good web browsing and a touch screen, then go the Nokia 5800.
I personally and having had the N82 and now the Nokia 5800, my choice is the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Mobile as it's a great and easy mobile to use. The web browsing is amazing, the camera serves it purpose for me, the music player is good, I really love the touch screen feature and it holds a lot of memory. I have a thbousands songs in my Nokia 5800 and I sill have over 10gb of ememory remaining in my 16gb card. I also love the look and feel of the Nokia 5800 over the Nokia N82.
But 007, this is my opinions and my hands on experience in which I share with you to help you decide, but at the end of the day, you choose what best suits your needs in a mobile phone.
007, 26 Dec 2008Which is better n82 or 5800, and what is this LED flash?? Pls help Hi 007,
Like the user name, my mobile/cell number ends in 007 which I think is cool ;-)
Anyhow to your question about "what is led flash". To my knowledge I believe led flash is just a very bright light that trys to brighten the room up as much as it can to get a good picture for you. Xenon flash which is a true digital camera flash is a whole lot better. I don't understand that why each brand can't just give every high end mobile a xenon flash but at the end of the day it's all about marketing ;-)
I'm sure theres a proper purpose for what a led flash is, but its seems better then a standard flash on a mobile phone but its not better then the Xenon flash.
Vicks, 26 Dec 2008Craig,
Where did u get ur fone from in UAE?? & for how much...
I wanna get it, just need... moreHi Vicks,
I bought mine off ebay Australia from a seller who imported them from overseas. The Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic mobile isn't released here in Australia officially yet. I paid AUD$820, which works out with todays exchange rate to be US$560, bit expensive for me but well worth it.
Now as my model was an import from a seller on ebay Australia, when I received my Nokia 5800 it's original box was in chinese writing and english. So I believe my model was packaged for the chinese/Hong Kong market.
Now a little while ago someone put a post on here stating that if checkout your imei number, if the 7th & 8th numbers where "02" then this indicates that your model was built in UAE (Dubai) and he stated that the models there were not good builds. I wanted to state for a fact, that if this is the case with imei numbers then my model is a UAE build and I have not had one issue what so ever and that what he was saying is not 100% true and that not all builds are going to be the same.
So speaking, I didn't buy my model directly from the UAE but believe my model is built there.
Since the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic mobile has been released, all I have been seeing is people brand bash it, compare it to iphone, talk the phone down when they even haven't had a hands on experience with one or you have had other brand lovers come on here and bash it as much as they can.
If you look at all the post on gsmarena under every model released, they all read 50% praising the model and 50% bashing the model and about 75% of the post are just useless information of people not using the post for what there purposes are.
I don't understand how people can write a post about something if you don't have the model in your hot little hands and using it, this is fiction, not facts. You can compare two models against each other for features however they other totally different usage to the person considering getting one, so you can't write one is a total write off while the other one is perfect, how do you know that one is perfect for me and the other isn't.
I don't like brand bashing or comparing because each model is unique in there way or suit a certain group of people.
It's good to read forums where people have had a hands on experience with that particular model, and I"m noit talking about a hands on experience by going into the shop and playing with it for 10 minutes, this isn't giving you a true hands on experience at all.
I like reading post that gives me the good with the bad hands on experience, people who have had the model for a little while and may of had issues and if they did, how did they go about resolving the issue, was it an on-going issue was easily rectafied.
What we need to realise is that there maybe 20 thousand Nokia 5800 models built, it doesn't mean that all 20 thousand models are all going to have the same issue. To me it is luck of the draw to get a defaulted model, Nokia don't know which one has a default etc, however they give you a warranty so if you have a default or issue with your model they'll fix it or replace it. That's there trust behind there brand, and this every brand out there for this sake.
So Vicks, I haven't bought my model directly from the UAE myself, but I believe my model was built in the UAE and I have not had one issue at all with mine my friend. I wish you luck with your choice, if you have a question, don't hesitate to ask me, I will answer it with honesty and with what experience I have had.
All the best
Vicks, 26 Dec 2008Craig, Where did u get ur fone from in UAE?? & for how much... I wanna get it, just need... moreHi Vicks, I bought mine off my a seller on ebay Australia. It's not even released here yet officially. I paid $800 Australian dollars, so on todays exchange rate & our weak dollar i'd say around the $560 USD. So i paid a lot for mine. Now the ebay seller imported mine which when i received it my Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic was in a original Nokia box but had chinese writing on it, so I beleive my packaging pack was made for the chinese/Hong Kong market. Now a little while ago someone put a post on here stating to check out your imei number & if the 7th & 8th number where 02 then they said this was a UAE made model. If this is true then my model is a UAE model. I didn't buy my model directly from the UAE, it was just a model built there. Sorry if I confused you. On this persons post, he said if your model was a UAE build then it was not a good build so I just wanted to point a fact to him that this isn't true and that i have a UAE built model and it is perfect with not one bit of trouble at all. Since this has been released a lot of people are quick to either brand cash it, compare it to iphone or u have SE fans etc come in and write shit about this model, which isn't helpful at all to anyone. Yes people are going to have some bad experiences & some ain't, not every build of this model is going to be perfect, but that's the chance you take when you buy anything really, check the post on every model ever released and you will find that every post is 50/50 in praising that model or complaining or bashing it. I prefer to read the hands on post only and the one that are going to help me better judge my choice. I don.t need a cloud of confusion over my head :-). Vicks good luck with your decision mate, i'm sure you will choose the right model for yourself. Cheers Craig :-)
sina, 26 Dec 2008I think you are talking about N97; not N79!Hi Sina, no i am refering to the Nokia N79 not the N97. The Nokia N97 isn't even released as yet so why would someone be asking for someone's opinion on which model they should buy now. Let's not confuse people here :-). Cheers Craig
