I bought this phone a few days ago. Its kinda so-so phone for the price you pay. In my opinion, this phone does not worth more than $$250. The built quality is nokia trademark....cheap plasticy and looks also very cheap. I doubt about its durability. Touch screen is nowhere near iphone. Its same old symbian 60 3rd with touch function.
The only one thing i like about this phone is sound. Both from headphone & speaker, the sound quality is loud and good.
I think i will return this and get htc touch hd. One more thing, this phone suits more for teenagers than business users. It just looks kids toys...beilive me. I feel ashamed to use this phone in front of my friends.
Hey guys I just compared the audio quality of the 5800 with N81. I have to say the audio amplitude of N81 is much better than that for 5800. I am talking about the audio effects of the earphones not the loudspeaker....
it operates on symbian 9.4 os rite? Are the applications for this OS available in ample?
I Got A Nokia 5700 And I Gonna Change To This Phone....Hope GSMArena Review Soon....
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Hi Cynic,
I bought my 5800 off ebay Australia. It's not offically released in Australia as yet. My model I believe is a Asian release as the Nokia box is in Chinese writing but the mobile is alll in english.
I've had no issues with my Nokia 5800, it's a top mobile.. of wait I already said that before lol.
A friend bought it.It does looks good but the stereo speaker somehow not as good as Nokia 5700, i found the 5700 have better stereo sound, much more wider and ambient.
The Nokia 5800 comes in the following colours:
(I have not seen black yet)
I can't compair the music quality with some of the models that guys are compairing it too. I can compair the music quality of the Nokia 5800 to the following models and brands:
- Nokia N95
- Nokia N95 8 gb
- Nokia N82
- Nokia 6110 Navigator
- Nokia N73
- Nokia 3230
- Nokia 6260
- Samsung Omnia i900
- Samsung D900i
- SE K850
- SE K800
- SE K750
- SE Z750
- And a few of the Motorola Razr models.
- iPhone 3g
Now for me, the Nokia 5800 music and sound quality is better then the Motorola Models I've had, also Nokia 5800 music quality is better then all the SE & Samsung models I've had and when compairing the music quality to the other Nokia models I've had, the Nokia 5800 quality is better then most and up there with the music quality of the Nokia N95 8gb. I'm very happy with the music quality of the Nokia 5800. The iPhone 3g has a terrific interface with their music and the sound is great, but we need to remember that the iPhone's music is an ipod which is specifically made for that purpose. The iPhone is a music phone, it serves it's purpose for that and it does it well.
Guys, We can't compair the iPhone/iPhone 3g to the Nokia 5800 as the iPhone is a high end music phone, it isn't a multi-purpose phone like the Nokia 5800 or other high end smartphones.
I wont made mouth iPhone or other mobiles as they all serve there purposes for what they can do.
If I could have the apple ipod function in the Nokia 5800, I think we'd have the best multi-media device out there. A mobile that is small, touch screen and does everything a mobile should do in one device.
Over all, guys the Nokia 5800 is a wonderful device. I'm so liking it, I can never put it down. It is so user friendly, it's compact, it looks professional and casual all at the sametime. The Nokia 5800 doesn't miss a heartbeat.
If my family are looking for a new mobile phone, I for one will be recommending to them and I recommended to you guys who are looking for a mobile. If it offers all the benefits you want from a mobile, for god sake, buy this one ;-)
This is important, as i really want to buy this music centric phone, i want to hear from u friends; is the sound and music quality really super.
Ok guys, every manufacturer has its own distinctive models , i was once a SE fan but now i dont mind,i hate bulky sets like x1 and n97 as they feature stupid qwerty keyboards, but 5800 is light and featuring the new symbian os.
nokia is the best, apple is boring, specially iphone... i love nokia connecting people if you know what i mean... logo:apple with someone bite on it, boring...

uffie, 18 Dec 2008to CRAIG do you have to charge this phone for 12 hours when you bought it? To Uffie, When u buy a mobile they refer that u charge it do up to 12 hours but me being naughty & impatient, as soon as i got it home i started installing all my files & numbers etc and then I left it on charge when i was sleeping. I've had no issues with battery life what so ever. I charge it fully overnight but i can go all day playing with it from listening to music, surfing the web etc and the battery life is still gr8 when i get home at night. I'm very happe with this device. Cheers Craig
